Today's column in the Blue Star Times:

Dallas enters the stretch run with the NFC East there for the taking. Again. Fourth time’s a charm….?

It’s all so familiar. Cowboys fans have sat tied and blindfolded in darkness for much of the past decade, not knowing when, or how often, a two-by-four to the knees would strike. Football torture can be a cruel, cruel thing.

So forgive our Pavlovian flinch each time someone utters “playoffs” or implications involving January football. Such is the result of the constant hope and disappointment that regurgitated 8-8s brings. Season after season of flawed squads in win-or-go-home finales has calloused and conditioned this fan base to expect the worst. It’s just been too long.

(Good gosh what it must be like to be a Guantanamo Eagles fan.)

Good article, do not agree on everything but that is the lovely thing about perspectives. :)

When the schedule came out, I think we all looked at the last few games of the season and all of the NFC East games being so late and thought... "Oh boy".

I think having a solid and consistent running attack will play well for the Cowboys, this has also allowed the outside weapons the chance to make big plays.
Exactly Dooms the Cowboys finally have an o-line and a very consistent running attack and that does bodes well for the team going into the last 6 games and I'm just going to sit back and enjoy this bumpy ride coming up.

According to my calculations......this weekend's Philly-GB game will ultimately determine the NFC East champion.

If the Cowboys stick to the running game and Romo stays healthy then it should be different but I guess we'll see.

They could win all of them or lose all of them. I think they go 3-3 and finish 10-6. Don't know if that will win the east, but looking back this past summer. 10-6 would be a successful year.

That would be interesting around here. If they finished 10-6 and didn't make the playoffs, would that be a successful year? I heard a lot of 6-10 predictions before the season.

Pretty much.... at least hither to this season. It just feels different b/c the proof is in the pudding and the pudding is the trenches....

It would pretty obviously be a successful year, but the Garrett haters would use it to fuel their rage when Garrett is inevitably extended. Probably complain about him icing the kicker, or some other imaginary concept.

I don't know, is the last game vs Washinton the one that does us in? It would be hard to once again get to week 17 win and your in only too lose it. That would not set well with anyone

The running game, and commitment to it will make a difference in how this season can end over how it's been ending.

This commitment to the running game last year would have given us a couple other wins prior to the end that would have made that final game each season moot.

I keep hoping for the mark next to the Cowboys name showing they are ensured of a playoff spot before week 17. lol

Different team=Different outcome, given the "stay healthy" factor which is my only concern, I hope everyone can stay healthy especially Tony, this will give this Much better team than last seasons a fighting chance, to a much better December outcome, because I confident that a healthy Cowboys team is better than all our adversaries in the east.

it would be a good year to me but very disappointing that they did not make the playoffs.

Don't think 10-6 will do it. Probably will have to beat Philly twice to win the east and make the playoffs.
