I disagree. I love his enthusiasm ((his column in the Star) but he is generally wrong in his assumptions. I read him anyway because he is such a ray of sunshine and he gives me hope.

I'll debate with you on whether he is right not...he doesn't supply agenda reinforcing information, but the facts, perspectives, and as he sees them. He's no body's fool...and has depth of knowledge all the way back to the beginnings of the Dallas Cowboys.

I don't believe in a social order of ring tapers or mop bucket brigades that swoop in and cover with tar and feathers, an honest appraisal.

There's a good bit of news. Now you could have a rotation of Spencer, Crawford and Bass at SDE with the latter two able to rotate inside as well.

It would be wonderful if Spencer was 90% of the player he was 2 years ago but I have to see it to believe it after micro fracture. That would be a huge boost for this D.

Well, that's as scientific as it comes. We can forget about functional capacity exams, CTs, arthrograms, MRs, as well as taking a history and doing an exam especially.

and you obviously forget all the times Jerruh and company said a player would be back the next week and then went on IR soon after; or was out for MONTHS. Some people have a very convenient memory

Speculation abounds at this time of the year but like any other year, the truth will be revealed in due time. It's always good to hear about someone who MIGHT be of service is doing better than expected in his rehab regimen. Nevertheless, the staff is more than likely to treat Spencer with a healthy dose of caution to avoid any untimely setbacks. This news is good to hear but that's about it.

If he's functional and able to play the snaps they wish then they can monitor him. If his knee swells enough and/or he's dysfunctional for other reasons then they can limit him further. I wouldn't be surprised if he sees limited snaps but he may actually be well enough to practice and play. We'll just have to wait and see. Right now we don't know enough to say he will play at all.

That's it.

Either the knee is sound or it's not.

And if it is, then it becomes a question of being in "football shape". If Spencer can get in a adequate level of practice time during TC, then why not let him start the season on the active roster and put in 20-25 snaps per game?

Well, if Jerry is your source for knowledge about most things esp medical then I completely understand your position on this as well as most things.

I have repeatedly said, BTW, that if you filter Jerry you can at times get some good information. You just need to know when you hear BS and when you don't. All Jerry does, for the most part, is repeat what he thinks he heard regurgitating it in his own bumbling way.

So kudos to you for advancing the art of observation and reporting as well as totally revamping the art of medicine.

That's kind of where I am on him right now; assuming he can play on the knee.

He's not going to be 'out of shape' but he won't have his football legs and be in football playing shape completely for awhile. He's got to be on the field in tough practice and/or game conditions for that.

I have no idea what's going to happen. At least we aren't hearing bad news although that doesn't mean its not coming.

you must have a reading comprehension problem. Or you are a lawyer- an expert at carefully filtering what you want to hear. I said Jerruh and company. But I forgive you; not everyone can be intelligent.

Well, I sincerely apologize for not being more careful. My bad. I'll try and read your posts more carefully.

OTOH, I've asked you to tone it down via PMs a couple of times lately and you don't seem to be able to either read that comprehensively or you are ignoring me and others on the staff. Normally we do this via PMs but since you are recalcitrant and continue to insult people at will then perhaps you'll be able to comprehend this very unusual and public reprimand. I'd bench you for the personal attacks but that doesn't seem to alter your behavior.

Stop insulting members and going out of your way to annoy and agitate them. Any further communication along these lines must be done via PM.

That's exactly what I would do, put him into a rotation so he stays healthy throughout the season. Having Spencer, Selvie and Lawrence rotating as the DE's on rushing downs isn't a bad group if they all stay healthy.

Sure, but there was that one episode where he cured Bart with leaches:

I'm betting on him...as well as Okoye at some point also.

I don't believe that Anthony Spencer is afraid to announce a retirement with full facts, but he is working hard and I believe in the man. Plenty of room for him to run with it...and the Cowboys benefit.

I like analysts that tell it like it is, not blow smoke up my rear and give me hope.

Tell me the truth. I'm a big boy. I can take it.

He's a non-entity, as far as I'm concerned.

First, the vast majority of his career he's been an underachiever and now he's coming off a really bad injury.

I just have a really hard time caring about Anthony Spencer.

If I'd under-appreciated him for years, I'd probably feel the same.

He's capable of being an impact player at a position of need if healthy and in football shape. Unfortunately, he's neither right now. And none of us really knows how much that status might change, or how quickly.

I don't think anybody is counting on immediate impact from the guy, and most have moderate expectations for him contributing by year end. That still makes him more than a non-entity.
