And had who else out there?

Butler! Not sure how this is tough to grasp for some. I am not a fan of TWill and I think Butler has more upside at the #2. Neither are my first choices but give me Butler over Williams.

Butler is here on a one year, $1.1 million "prove it" deal. He only had 16 catches on 32 targets last season. I've always liked Butler, too- he's a big, explosive downfield threat. However, even going back to his Raiders days, he has never performed on a consistent level. A big play every now and then, and then weeks of disappearance. I'm hoping he's finally putting it all together.

Now, a lot of the same can be said of Williams. However, he's back on a four year deal that pays him on average of just over $4 million annually. In today's NFL, that's a tremendous bargain for an experienced receiver.

Having both players on the roster for such a minimal cap hit is a tremendous thing. Especially when you consider the Cowboys' "number two" receiver is really the fourth option at best in the passing game after Dez, Witten, and Beasley.

Prediction: he's working for a payday this year and knows he can make some serious money off of the talent he is surrounded by. He has a Laurent Robinson type year and leaves to the highest bidder. He will be fun to watch this year.

If this is the case, the Cowboys' cap-friendly deal with Williams means they can cut him and pay Butler what he deserves. At least, I hope so.

Agree but I would have just gone with Butler and let Williams go elsewhere. If he did not pan out, then draft a true #2 and go from there. It is not like we don't have plenty of receiving options. I just did not like the idea of being roped in for four more years of TWill, I firmly think we have seen him at his best and that is not good enough IMO.

You are right, but my point is at least Williams' deal is (relatively speaking) cheap. Compared to what other teams threw at the likes of Kenny Britt and Robert Woods, this was a coup by the Cowboys. And who knows, maybe they get lucky and Williams really breaks out.

so far butler is a good co-number 2 receiver. he is only good for one catch a game. I do not see his role changing. butler will have a hard time catching more then three catches a game with the way the cowboys play offense. just not enough touches to go around for butler to put up big numbers.
