Right. That's why you have those scouts. How do you not make every attempt to obtain that player when you're sitting there at 4 and they're telling you there's a franchise QB to be had?

For what? A CB? Another DE? LB? It pales in comparison.

there you have it

The cost is going to prevent a trade up to 1st overall. Multiple 1sts and probably multiple 2nds as well. I'm a supporter of Goff, but I'm not making that kind of trade for some unless I'm convinced they are can't miss caliber. Now if Goff is available at 3, I could possibly see trading with SD if SF is trying to trade with them. In all likelihood, Goff has to be available at 4 if we want him on the team. All the other scenarios are a long shot at best.

The bidding for the 1st overall pick is going to be steep. Both the Rams and Texans believe they are a franchise QB away from being in the Superbowl. As far as the Texans go, they may be right.

It would be similar to the chargers giants trade

Cost their first and third rounder as well as a first and and fifth the following year...

Teams don't move up from 15 to 1 in the nfl draft...let alone 22 to 1...you can stop thinking about this

Tennessee isn't going to give away the pick by any means, but they would be in a relatively good position moving down to #4. They would still be in excellent position to draft Tunsil or Ronnie Stanley.

This is all assuming we love Goff enough to make the move and that Tennessee's front office isn't so in love with Tunsil that the would risk losing him.

I remember when people thought Rodgers was overrated. Goff is going to be very good. Lynch has the potential to be very good. Wentz is incredibly overrated by this board. He's Matt Schaub or Mike Glennon to me.

People only like Goff because of draft experts. Lynch and Wentz are both superior.

Throw the numbers out and Goff is more technically sound and accurate than either Lynch or Wentz and this point isn't really debatable. Proof of this fact is on tape.

Fact? Yeah ok. Glad he'll be gone when we pick

I like Goff..

Something about Lynch though I don't like. I definetely don't like his release and I just get that Joe Flacco vibe from him.

I don't want Lynch.. Doesn't seem like the type of QB that would do great in Dallas.

Give me Goff or Wentz.

I think Wentz will be the best of those three

Stephen McGee - 2009 4 rd

Quincy Carter - 2001 - 2 nd

T Aikman 1989 - 1 st

lots of picks of wasted picks

Romo in 2005

Cowboys have mismanaged the QB position since Aikman was drafted in 1989 with the overall #1 pick.

Either they failed to draft a QB when they should have or when they did so, it was obviously poorly evaluated.

Quincy Carter and Stephen McGee were wasted picks, you are correct and the only ones used on drafted QB's since Troy retired.

This small sample size should inform you to just how problematic their strategy and evaluation has been concretely speaking.

Only two attempts equaling wasted picks and two failures.

The evaluation of free agent QB's has been overall problematic as well under the Jerry years and post Aikman.

Romo is the only redeeming grace for Jerry and that was under the Parcells regime with Sean Payton influence.

Most of the other undrafted free agents were also piss poor, so Romo was the exception.

This team has historically and presently struggled properly evaluating QB's in every facet overall since Troy retired.

The Cast (Enjoy) :

Season(s) Quarterback(s)
2015 Matt Cassel (7) / Tony Romo (4) / Brandon Weeden (3) / Kellen Moore (2)
2014 Tony Romo (15) / Brandon Weeden (1)

2012 Tony Romo (16)
2011 Tony Romo (16)
2010 Jon Kitna (9) / Tony Romo (6) / Stephen McGee (1)
2009 Tony Romo (16)
2008 Tony Romo (13) / Brad Johnson (3)
2007 Tony Romo (16)
2006 Tony Romo (10) / Drew Bledsoe (6)
2005 Drew Bledsoe (16)
2004 Vinny Testaverde (15) / Drew Henson (1)
2003 Quincy Carter (16)
2002 Chad Hutchinson (9) / Quincy Carter (7)
2001 Quincy Carter (8) / Anthony Wright (3) / Ryan Leaf (3) / Clint Stoerner (2)

You would expect Jerry to actually move up to 1 for the QB? I doubt it. I'd be shocked if they did. They'd probably just accept the Browns will take their QB so they might as well move on to cornerbacks and tight ends.

What's funny (sad) about this statement is I fully expect us to go CB in round one and TE in round 2
