Give me BJ Raji instead. He's been miscast as a 3-4 DE the last few years. And he was out all of last year with a torn biceps. He'll probably come cheaper than Fairley and I personally think he's a better player, especially inside on a 4-3.

Well he's a NT, but thats beside the point. To make this D into a better unit that can take over a game, we will have to have a significant FA signing of some sort on the defensive side of the ball. Sure we have enough FAs of our own to sign, but I do think we need one mid-range FA for the D so we can go into the draft with BPA in mind.

Raji or Fairley would be fine, doesn't matter which one really, just depends on the money. I would rather get a FA interior DL at this point for this team over drafting one early. Use that pick for a more premium position like pass rusher or CB.

I loved this kid coming out of college. He will be an instant upgrade. And he is one mean son of a gun. Id love this if it happened.

Packers considering moving B.J. Raji to defensive end

The 28-year-old's play had slipped in the last few years as he moved to defensive end. He was slotted to move back to NT in 2014 but got hurt before the season started.

Fairley + Hughes (or the like) and our starting d-line would be set, which would be sweet.

I'd like to add Hughes. I just think the kid is going to get a premium from someone. I know there was some talk about of Buffalo at him wanting $10 mil a season. And Buffalo wants to keep him.

Not sure that Fairley is a 1 tech. And aside from his injuries and lack of production, worry about his worth ethic. If we are going to bring in a dirty player, he needs to be a hard working one.

Your point about Fairley maybe not being a #1 DT has some merit. Injuries are a good point also.

Lack of production... I don't get that one.

Hayden last two seasons: 1,525 snaps, 0 sacks, 11, QB hits, 26 hurries.

Fairly last two seasons: 990 snaps, 8 sacks, 17 QB hits, 38 hurries.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brent be the starting #1 DT for the Cowboys in '15.

I could see Fairly (or Paea) spending some time there and rotating at the #3 with Crawford.

Melton wasn't a 1-tech either.

I would try to resign Melton and roll with Brent and Bishop as the 1T on a rotation.

FA/1st round-Crawford-Melton-DLaw on passing downs isn't bad.
Spencer-Crawford/Melton-Brent-Mincey on rushing downs

Try to sign a SDE in FA and draft DL early.

He has always played in a 3-4 as a professional, so I have a hard time understanding how you think he would be a better player inside in a 4-3 now since he basically has not done that since he was at Boston College when he was lighter and more explosive as a 3-T.

I believe if anything we would be a space eater at the 1-T spot at this stage. I am pretty much convinced that he is on the tail end of his career and essentially becomes like other older DTs, who got fat and played out the string, as a nose tackle/1-T.

Couldn't you have said the same thing about Hatcher?
