It appears evident to me that the team is attempting to tend to the present with an eye to the future as well. Otherwise, they would probably be much more inclined to enlist someone like Freeney at this time, rather than choosing to develop their in-house youngsters first and foremost. Philosophically speaking, it's difficult to get both without devotedly committing to either one or the other. Hopefully, it'll somehow work out.
Yeah, the same thing occurs to me. Inconsistant choices and decisions ranging from 'long term vision' to 'win now' mentality indicative of not having a clear plan. A team trying to have it both ways ultimately getting neither.
It's almost as if they truly do believe that Romo will be this team's starting quarterback for the next 4 to 5 years and they're putting all of their eggs in that basket.
Scary thought.
