As a rookie guard for the Dallas Cowboys, La'el Collins played his way into a little extra pocket cash.

Just after last year's NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys pulled off one of the more unbelievable rookie free agent signings in league history. We all know the story of how La'el Collins went from first-round lock to undrafted. And we further know how Collins proved himself to be a wise and prudent young man by choosing to sign with the Dallas Cowboys and strengthen Big D's already embarrassingly strong offensive line. His three year $1.6 million deal is certainly a bargain, but yesterday La'el was given a few extra dollars to go buy himself something nice.

On Monday, the NFL handed out their annual performance-based bonuses to deserving players. Each of the 32 teams were given $3.802 million to disperse to players. Collins was the big winner for the Cowboys as he brought in an additional $277,939.63. La'el started 11 games for the 'Boys in 2015 and cemented himself in the lineup for the foreseeable future by helping the league's best offensive line become that much better. It will be a challenge for the Cowboys to keep Collins and his linemates together with new contracts down the line. Travis Frederick and Zach Martin will be first, but our own Joey Ickes recently laid out a plan to keep the band together. No matter what happens down the line, we still have at least two more years of watching Collins destroy defenders.

Just ask Bobby Wagner and Earl Thomas.

Or HaHa Clinton-Dix.

The Darren McFadden 45-yard run is nice and all but...

La'el Collins is a full-blown wrecking ball . #DALvsGB https://t.co/gqpLQ2BVwR

The Cowboys certainly hit one out of the park when they signed La'el Collins. He is athletic, strong, and has a true passion for bringing devastation to the second-level of opposing defenses. It's nice to see a player like La'el get a little tangible recognition after so much was taken from him last year. Keeping bulldozing through those defenders Mr. Collins, and there's bound to be more bonus money where that came from.
