We've picked up a free agent for the stretch run and beyond!

Greetings BTB,

I want to take a moment to introduce you to a new member of the BTB front page. I don't do this often but I've decided to bring someone in from the outside, but who has written a lot about the Cowboys and is a true blue fan. His name is Jeff Smith and he's penned his own introduction below. I know sometimes the community here is wary of strangers, but please make Jeff feel welcome. He's going to be a great fit here at BTB and will soon be just one of the gang.

Thanks, Dave

Hey everyone!

My name's Jeff Smith, and I'm incredibly excited to be working with the front-page team here at Blogging The Boys. I love the site, and am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this team. I just want to give you all a bit of insight as to who I am, where I've written before, and of course, how I became a huge Dallas Cowboys' fan.

As far as my writing experience goes, I've written for multiple sites on not only the Dallas Cowboys, but fantasy football as well. A few of the roles that I've been a part of include the Lead Dallas Cowboys' Writer for ProFootballSpot, as well as the Fantasy Football Coordinator there. I've covered the 'Boys on Cover32.com and RantSports, while also doing some work in the past with Football Nation. Currently, I handle the ACC Atlantic college football newsletters for FOX Sports.

I jumped into the writing world a bit differently than most did, as I was working at DirecTV doing sales, and found a company looking for someone to do an article on the NFL for them. Obviously, I jumped at the chance, and I guess you could say that was how it all started. After doing some more writing, I eventually had to decide how much time to dedicate to doing my new-found passion. My father pushed me to pursue my dream and continue writing.

Unfortunately, my father passed away in 2013 of cancer, but I know that he'd be absolutely thrilled that I'm now getting an opportunity to write with a site that has such an incredible following, community and group of writers like BTB.

When all is said and done, I not only have my dad to thank for getting me to stick with my love of writing about the Cowboys, but also for helping me fall in love with America's Team in the first place. I live Cowboys' football, and my entire Sunday is focused around this team and the NFL in general. I've watched and loved the 'Boys since I was just a little boy. When there was a Cowboys' game on Sunday or Monday Night, my dad would push my bedtime back so I could see how our team did.

In case you're wondering how strange/die-hard I am for this Cowboys' team, I'll happily explain my strict pregame ritual that I stick to every week. I have a Morris Claiborne jersey (yes, I know, I know), a Tottenham Hotspur shirt that I wear underneath it, and a pair of blue boxers that I absolutely HAVE to wear for every game. Strange? Yes. Has it worked to this point in 2014? I'll let the 7-3 record do the talking.

We've been through Quincy Carter, Ryan Leaf, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Henson and Drew Bledsoe (among others) without a Super Bowl, and here's to hoping that we can ride the roller coaster with Tony Romo back to the promised land.

Thanks again for the great opportunity, and I'm really looking forward to interacting with all of the fans and writers on the site. Don't ever hesitate to give me some flak, because interacting on articles and topics is the most enjoyable part of sports!
