We got a sneak peek at what could be the Cowboys linebacker lineup for the Giants game.

After losing starting linebackers Sean Lee and Justin Durant for up to a month, the Cowboys will now have to stitch together a linebacker corps. Today, we got a glimpse of what that will likely look like for the Giantsgame after the bye week. Starting in the middle was Ernie Sims, on the weak side was Bruce Carter and returning from injury on the strong side was rookie DeVonte Holloman.

The Cowboys practice today was a no-pads affair, but it was still good to see Holloman back. It's not guaranteed he will be able to play, he needs to go through some contact first which should happen next week. Holloman injured his neck in practice about a month ago but the Cowboys think he might play, and if he plays he's likely to start. Dallas is also toying with the idea of having Kyle Wilber play some linebacker as a backup or emergency option.

I'm thinking we elevate Howdy to the PS at the very least. He's already a Cowboy....sorta. That way we don't have to get another street urchin.

I'm glad we have Holloman in the mix. This is his opportunity to earn playing time and possibly a job. I like the kid and hope for big things.

On a more serious note I agree this is a chance for someone to step up although my guess is they will pick on him in coverage. He may do a better job than a couple of LBers. I won't embarrass them BUT their NAMES are Sims and Carter. Did I do that? Did I say that out loud?!

I would rather Carter play the mike....let the others fall in line where they best fit....perhaps sign Huff or Reed to play alongside of wilcox and let church play a little LB

Fredd, I think Carter is either hurt or he can't play football despite the athleticism. He is just slow to react, not a great tackler, takes poor angles to often, gets hung up in traffic, and does not shed blocks well. Durant is better. Lee is light years ahead. Sims is roughly the same although he gives more effort. So I would vote no to Carter at the Mike. Sims is better shedding blocks but not a great deal better. We will have a hard time stopping the run. I'm going to post something later about all this. Holloman may be the best football player out there which is a scary thought to me.

I would agree with you about Carter if he hadn't played so well last year after Lee got hurt. He was great during those games. I wanna know what happened to him. Is it effort or the change of defensive scheme. This defense doesn't fit several players.

I think we are one LB injury away from giving Urlacher a call:)

Come to think of it, maybe we ought to bring him in for a workout. I thought I was joking but, just maybe, that might be a good idea.

I don't have the slightest idea. What comes to mind is drugs, injury, injury and/or a non-related football illness. I'm not saying he has a drug problem yada just speculating some causes of a drop off in play. Otherwise those he is appears to be either lost, out of position and/or poorly motivated. You can throw in poor coaching except then you'd have to explain Lee and Durant being spectacular and very solid. I don't know but he needs to turn it around. Quickly.

I like Holloman a lot and hope he steps up. Kid could have the starting spot quickly if he makes an impact
