No matter how good a team is, it can always get better. The real question in my mind is, how effective will Hardy be after sitting for 26 games?

The article.... like people. On this board...
treats pass rushers like luxuries instead of necessities. Dangerous thinking.

Or maybe instead of Releasing The Krakken, we should be Releasing The Boatright.

They are obviously on the same level

Right now, it's a tough call as to whether or not Greg Hardy may or may not come in handy this year. The way things are going, it's obvious that Roger Goodell is doing all in his power to delay the arrival of Hardy onto the playing field for the Cowboys. The number of options available for Dallas at the DE position now are plentiful enough to be reasonably confident that edge rushers are very likely to be in bountiful supply when the football games come into play. Hopefully, the stiff sentences that were imposed will be significantly reduced. I'll be remaining hopeful it'll be no more than five or six games, max. Ten games was an absurdly harsh judgment.

I typically wouldn't mind it because it would there is a balance with pesimists. But whether you are a homerific optimist or a can do no right pessimistic, you need to present a valid argument or reason why to be optimistic about a player. Not just are practice squad level guys are amazaballs just because go cowboys

Yeah, that's why I post here a bit more frequently now. The dallascowboys.com forum has so many pessimistic posters. They were all suicidal when we passed on Malcolm Brown for some reason.

The Zone seems to have the best mix.

Its because he played at Texas lol. It was like that when we passed on Aaron Ross a while back. UT fans bang the table for their guy and it snowballs because it makes a big portion of our fanbase. Its like that with all fanbases. A couple Eagle fans I post with at a general NFL say its the same with them and PSU guys

I understand fans believing the League is against the Cowboys. It's human nature, and I'm no different. I whine about "bad" calls and unfair policy decisions all the time. I just don't see the logic. Of all the teams the NFL could want to keep down, it seems to me that Dallas would be last on the list. The League is at its strongest, most popular, most marketable, most lucrative when the Cowboys are good. Far more than any other team, as many people love watching the Cowboys lose as love seeing them win, and the haters are a lot more apt to pay attention if the team is good. Stuff like the Collins signing just stirs the money pot more.

I see Hardy getting MAYBE a six game suspension, but not ten. And, I wouldn't be surprised if the suspension was less than six.

"What if Greg Hardy..... never actually played for the Cowboys, man?"

Actually they drank an entire bottle of this:

Oh man, that is some good stuff. When I was in Curacao a couple of years ago, I was introduced to this. It is excellent poured on top of a pina colada and even better in ginger beer! It is a lot better than Captain Morgans.

I would like nothing more than for us to sign Hardy to a lengthy contract, and for him to be the poster boy for how a player in the NFL should behave, but I AM intrigued by what other teams would offer us for him.

Consider this scenario...

The trade deadline is approaching and our pass rush is looking good from Lawrence, Gregory and company. We've extended an offer to Hardy but he's given us no indication of accepting it thereby giving us the notion that he plans on testing free agency. We can't franchise tag him. Wouldn't it be within the realm of possibilities to entertain offers from other teams for his services now that we see it's going to be a bidding war?

I'd rather part ways with something to show for rather than to lose him outright. I imagine the compensation we would receive in return would be be wagging some tails around here.

I know many of you don't anticipate Hardy being on this team next year. Personally, I believe we have the means to retain him but at what cost? All I'm saying is if we can get a high draft pick(s) and/or player in return, it may would be worth looking at, considering the low price we paid for him in the first place. He's already on shaky ground and one more incident will be catastrophic to whomever signs his pay check.

I'm not advocating we rid ourselves of him. I'm just sensing that he's going to hit the market after this season. If that's the case, we can definitely fill more holes around here by being proactive and swinging a deal. We could also ensure he doesn't wind up on a division rival.

Just a thought. Juuuuust a thought.

I concur with that line of logic -- it doesn't work in the NFL's favor to shoot down the Cowboys. I don't think the commish is deliberately screwing the C'boys so much as he's doing all in his power to save face for the things that have gone so wrong for his reputation lately. He's trying to save his skin at the expense of whoever else it might hurt to do so. If he has to hinder America's team to appease public opinion over the Hardy affair, he will.
