Bucs fire Lovie Smith

I thought signing Dallas cast offs would be great for job security. Suprised if Philly or NY don't kick the tyres, even if only for Rooney implications.

I bet Chip makes a push. TB looked at him before. Rumors all over Twitter about Lovie and GM not hitting it off but Lovie brought Licht in

Bucs didn't want to lose Dirk Koetter (former Boise St. head coach).....Making him the head coach was the only way they were gonna keep him. And it's the right move if you want to keep the continuity they have established w/ Winston already.

Glazers are idiots; they improved this year from 2-14 to 6-10. I don't think it's out of the question that they would have contended for a playoff spot next year.

Players play hard. It's not some big coach potion.

I thought playing hard was the eye of newt ingredient only possessed by worthy few.

I mean i is not like you would expect the Rex Ryan's, Dan Campbell's, Quinn's of the world to conjure up an elixir to play hard and beat playoff teams (or knock one out) the last 2 weeks while they had nothing to play for.

The media, local and national gloss over the fact that Garrett lost Romo. Sure, some teams won with backups. Our two were perhaps the worst of the bunch. Since Kitna, the games Romo hasn't started, we've lost those games. Garrett should get a pass, this year.

In addition to being a defensive coordinator, Smith has extensive coaching experience with linebackers and also defensive backs.

He is Marinelli's BFF as well. If I were Jones, I would give him a healthy contract, an assistant head coach title, assign him to take Henderson's place overseeing the secondary and go.

He would also make a fine interim head coach.

This also opens up the POSSIBILITY that if Lovie were to find a job as a HC immediately, Marinelli may be interested in leaving to join him. Not likely but it's always a possibility given their relationship.

I don't think he will get hired to be a head coach any time soon or perhaps even ever again.

He did not produce in Chicago save for a couple of seasons and absolutely not in Tampa. Good man, good leader, but he misses the small things.

As for the Marinelli thing, he is under contract and won't be going anywhere unless he too is fired.
