Bucs game not a defining moment

If the team is to be something other than the past 27 years, this game is not the “defining” anything. The Bucs are not that good of a team (whether or not Brady is there). The divisional and conference championship games and then the Super Bowl would need to define this squad if they want to be “different.”

San Francisco just finished demolishing the Bucs with the rookie “Mr. Irrelevant.” The Cowboys “should” beat the Bucs badly to move on to better competition. This is the weakest the NFC has looked for 27 years. Just sayin’

Great post. The Cowboys have a 27 year demonstrated history of coming up small in the big spot. A win or loss won’t change the perception. Nothing short of a SB victory will. That’s what happens if you are a clown show for almost 3 decades.

I'd say breaking a streak that's been around for 30 years. Beating a qb that has never lost to us and setting ourselves up for a real shot at an nfcc game is pretty close
He is 45 years old and cannot outrun you unless you are missing a leg. None of the NFC teams are juggernauts. Beating KC or Cincinnati in the Super Bowl would be about the best competition any NFC team can get. I guess maybe Buffalo.

I agree.
Would be nice to break a couple of goofy streaks, but it is a wildcard game and Tampa is barely .500. and their home field is nothing like places such as Green Bay or Seattle.
Every team that made it to the 2nd round (via WC win or bye) did as well...imo.

Gotta win this one to get in position though!
I think we will.

But if they win NEXT week, that will be progress.

Since this team struggled against the Texans, Colts, Titans backups, and Commanders (who beat them badly), and didn't look that great against Jacksonville, I'd say the prospect of beating the Bucs looks pretty dim no matter what the Vegas bookmakers say. And yes, the Bucs are not a great team. Neither were these others.

If the Cowboys lose this game, this season will be yet another great fade out by the Cowboys after a strong start, led by the great fader himself, Dak Prescott. On the other hand, if they win, it will make this team at least a little different than the past playoff hopefuls, at least for 1 week. And maybe it will restore some of Dak's luster.

This game may not define the Cowboys but I do think it could define Dak. After all, the Cowboys were good enough to win with Cooper Rush, as long as he didn't give the game away. If Dak plays poorly and throws some bad INTs again, people are going to legitimately ask if the Cowboys would be better off with a lesser QB who does not make mistakes than Dak who can look spectacular at times but then throw an untimely pick 6 to give the game away.

It’s not because Dallas should beat the mediocre Bucs. It’s what happens the following week that will define this season.

Some of you must enjoy pouring urine in your cereal. I understand lamenting not winning a SB since the 90s. But this team is only responsible for THIS YEAR. Nothing else.
Nope. If you join this team you buy the pressure cumulating from all those years. And alot of guys including the QB have joined way before this season and got nothing to show for.

The Cowboys I grew up loving are not the 21st century Cowboys.

They are what they likely are, pumped up guys incapable of living up to that legacy.

I've adjusted expectations accordingly. Show me you're those Boys. I'll wait.

Yeah, this maybe the weakest playoff field in NFC history. We should reach the NFC title game or it's a fail.
Major changes will need to be made including HC and yes, some serious competition for our beloved QB.

It won't be if we lose. It will be just another playoff loss, one and done game.

But should we win, on the road no less, we will be getting closer to a more defining game.

Not to mention that it'd be our first road playoff win in 30 years. So yes, it's a big deal if we win because we would have gotten that proverbial monkey off our backs.

If we can't beat an 8-9 team I'd argue that it would define us as losers, just like the past 25 years.

This is true but when you have a franchise that has sucked balls for more than 25 years your “defining moment” bar gets lower and lower

We are at par with Lions and Washington in the last 25 years as the only teams to never even reach their Conf CG. In fact we haven’t won a single road playoff game in 27 years and dont have back to back playoff wins in that time so our “defining moment” is on Monday against the lowly Bucs and there is a decent chance we might not be up to the task

My blueprint

Dak needs a performance that is contrary to what he has shown in the past weeks regarding turnovers and decision-making. (He will be crucified on this board and continued by the media.....most pressure). Zeke just needs to be productive. TPollard needs to be effective given the plays called for him. Need a game from Gallup to balance the coverage on CeeDee. Tampa & everybody knows our TE routes. Missed blocks are unacceptable. OL needs to be better.....period. Any breakdowns by the OL will spell doom. KMoore needs to commit to clock management and avoid all the trickerations that fail. Just move the chains. (I don't think he can do that, because he will be shuffling hot hands out the game). Stay away from drive killing penalties. We don't need to play Big 12 football but Tampa makes mistakes on D. If KMoore gets ridiculous......take the tablet Big Mike, once and for all.

D.....it's simple. Stay in your gaps, shut the run down. Micah needs to play disciplined.....they're coming his way when he rushes inside. Good tackling is critcal. No more business decisions. Help the corner opposite Diggs. Can't have confusion in the secondary. We're going against a very smart QB who doesn't like to get dirty.

ST.....catch the damn ball.....punter or PR. Turpin.....no need to be a hero.....you've beeen that for the other team, of late.

Simply put, and easier said than done......Big Mike's team should come out motivated or playing at the beginning of the game. Any questions regarding effort from a player should have his #$#@$# on the sideline.
