The reason that he’s can’t necessarily do that here is because of the relationships. In locker room culture it’s hard to go from high paid leader to vet minimum backup.

Similar to the Dez and Witten situations. They both could serve roles, but it’s probably best if they did so with another team. You see this all across the league with aging players who once played huge roles on their teams, doesn’t make sense within the locker room hierarchy and structure to have a former leader and top guy try to just be a ho-hum lunchpale guy.
I don’t think what the guy’s being paid makes as much of a difference as what you’re saying. Plenty of players have taken pay it’s to stay with their current team. That’s essentially what this would be.

Seldom does it happen to team leaders though. Forgot which former player but he spoke on this type of situation. It can create a strange dynamic when the once high paid and important role having player is reduced to a vet minimum backup. Just a weird leadership dynamic and role reversal from years of a built up seniority to just a guy.

It sounds like not a huge deal but a big part of this game is the locker room dynamic and energy. Apparently this type of thing can make things unclear.

Just going off what former players have said, I didn’t really think this was a thing until I heard players speak on it.

I would equate it in the corporate world to having your boss reassigned to a normal level employee while another team member gets the management title. Would certainly create a strange energy within the team with a drastic role change.

Obviously the right personalities can make that work, but generally I think that could create a vibe that’s a bit off from what you’d want.

Just my opinion but I don’t put a lot of stock in it.

I don’t see it like that. It’s not like Elliott was anyone’s boss.

Obviously the right personalities can make that work, but generally I think that could create a vibe that’s a bit off from what you’d want.
I guess we just disagree on this one. I can see a way back.

If zeke is not getting paid and will be 2 to 3rd string at best, just hang them up and preserve your body.

I noticed that Peete didn't mention anything about the Bucs signing Elliott.

if hes still out there mid to late season id bring him in for game-by-game unguaranteed salary, whatever fairs for both sides, let him work in slowly but be at his peak for the late season games and playoffs..hes actually been great the first half of the last 2 seasons before the knee injuries.

So I guess you cant read then? Bucs RB coach skip just said Zeke is delusional and wants 12 million.

Zeke is like the few fans he has left. Completely delusional. LOL

So you would now root for the Bucs if Zeke went there? BWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

That just says it all right there. Thanks for admitting that.
You really have some issues when it comes to Elliott that could use professional help.

LOL.........Zeke still thinks hes a 12 million dollar back? That is hilarious!!!

And his supporters try to defend and say he didnt demand carries over Pollard. Laughable. This guy thinks hes god at the RB position. Completely delusional.
This didn't say Zeke still thinks that, it just says Peete told him what was realistic.

If you have 10's of millions in the bank and get millions in annual investment income . . . would you play NFL RB for $1m a season?

This isn't a pride or ego thing. Its a "do you want to walk at age 40" thing. If I was in that position, I don't think I would do it. Zeke has charisma and a following. Shouldn't be hard to turn that into an analyst type role somewhere.

He might be getting offers and just rebuffing them because he figures they just aren't worth it.

Possibly, but I was dead on accurate on all of it. Its the people that still want Zeke on the team or thinks hes a great back are the people that really need help.

I'm not sure anyone here thinks he's a great back at this point. Maybe better than what we inexpensively picked up to replace him, but not great. Could be wrong about that, and hope to be wrong about that, but we'll see.
