Look at how we have tried to win in the past 7 years
1. We have tried two ex professional pitchers at QB
2. We have tried to win with a lacklaster defensive coordinator named Dave Campo
3. We started Vinny Testaverde at QB
4. We passed up Stephen Jackson for a much undersized RB who was known to have injury problems and difficulty with the short yardage game in college
5. We start Roy Williams at free safety despite knowing his coverage skills are weak and that he is much better suited at strong safety
6. We went into the season starting Pete Hunter at cornerback assuming all would work out well
7. Should we mentionall all the ballsy yet stupid moves we have made in starting the wrong people on the offensive lines. I'll let you have your choice there
8. We fire our best kicking coach risk our kicking games with losers. And then we think we have a winner when we take the kicker who was dumped by his recent team for choking and was known to have pyschological problems.
9. We reached for a QB by 4 rounds because we wanted the next Michael Vick and feared the Raiders (yes the frickin Raiders of all teams) would select him. If the Raiders want any particular QB, maybe that's a sign to ignore that player.
10 This is one of the best drafts in years and we select Carpenter at LB.
I could go on but you get the point. I'm just sick of Jerry and our recent string of coaches trying to win the unorthodox way. I'm sick of these guys try to impress people by doing things their own way instead of the right way.
I've had it. Give me some losing but at least give a young and promising coaching staff that has a reputation for teaching. Give me a young coaching staff that is actually coveted by other NFL teams at the moment and not a "sleeper" head coach.
Give me a traditional QB, OL, FS, Cornerback! Fine, I'll take losing for the next 2 years but I want to feel like our team is progressing and developing and not losing in some unorthodox and silly way.
For example, get a regular QB that everyone wants. Yes, the 6'4 pocket passer that is a sure-fire top 10 pick that people are calling a genius. Yes I know he could be the next Ryan Leif..yada...yada...yada but I don't want any baseball players or undrafted guys. Start a guy at tackle that is worthy of the position and not some guy you want covert because you think you are a genius. Pick players in the draft that other teams are competing for instead of a sleeper pick.
Seriously, I would like a little bit of "normal" around here. I'm sick of trying to win with band-aid solutions.
