Jerry saying moving on from Cooper was the right financial move and that Jalen Tolbert just didn't pan out just goes to show is ya can't count your chickens before they hatch theory when you're talking about football

Well said Jerry.

Ya might have to plunge into free agency to make up for it this year!!!

Why not cut all the fat and bring in 3-4 good skilled players?

IT is really ridiculous; the Boys throw money like a drunken sailor in a cat house at their own; but dumpster dive for others.

That is one of the main reasons we will always have holes in the roster that come back and haunt us when the rubber meets the road.

you forget dumb and dumber, ego trip that's what gets in the way and that's there for the future and you are me can't control that. Jimmy Johnson quit because of it and can you tell me if jerry has put a super bowl team together. the one with that idiot switzer was jimmy's team after that nothing an for 27 years the proof is in the pudding and one more thing dak is not a super bowl caliber qb he's a good qb but some have it and some don't.

Yep.. I had Phillips as my #1 defensive player in the draft.

I didn’t like Parsons because I didn’t see him having a big effect on the pass game as a linebacker and you don’t draft guy to stop the run with premium picks.

Especially a guy who lacked instincts to play the position and was all athlete.

As an edge rusher he’s just a natural. He didn’t even need a lot of coaching to be elite at it.
My question is to those who say he lacked instinct. To me whoever said that has forever lost credibility in the scout or player personnel department.

At linebacker? He still lacks instincts.

He’s all athlete. He can chase down a play or whatever but he’s mediocre at best against the pass and is constantly out of position.

He’s unreal at see ball get ball but making reads and thinking is not his thing.

That’s why they put him at edge rusher. Just go get the QB.

I did. Still don’t like him at linebacker. My opinion immediately changed after watching the Chargers game and I said he needed to stay on the edge because he isn’t anything special as a linebacker.

Cowboyszone disagreed with me. Dan Quinn didn’t.

Had anyone know he was this type of player off the edge Dallas doesn’t draft him.
OT, but I view this differently. Parsons combination of speed and power gives him the tools to be an elite cover linebacker. Fast enough to cover slot receivers, powerful enough to match up with tight ends. I don't believe in using big resources on the linebacker position though- DL and secondary are by far more important.

The Cowboys have basically converted Parsons into a DL/edge rusher. He is spectacular at this job. He is also undersized, and matching up against bigger offensive lineman will take its toll on his career. I fear Dallas will sign him to a huge contract just in time to witness this inevitable decline.

He has the tools to be a great inside linebacker. He just lacks the natural instincts and will take awhile to develop at that position.

He would never have the kind of impact he’s having now though as a pass rush guy.

Dallas needs to bring in Sean Lee as a defensive coach either linebacker coach or some capacity and help micah parsons with his instincts and that will help prolong micahs carear

We hear this so much, realistically, how many of those players will actually help you out in the season?

The recent most draft we used, Smith, Williams, and Bland. While the other guys need time to get ready for this game. Then by this year's draft, will be adding more young guys to this team. People are going to get lost in the shuffle.

I say draft well, but still pick up some free agents!
You build w/ the draft and fill in holes w/ FA's.

They have signed free agents in recent years. They just didn't pay top dollar for them.

Also, the re-signed players like Jayron Kearse in 2022. If they had instead signed a near identical player from another team, fans would have said that was a good FA signing, but because he was a re-signing, fans don't think it counts.

If they retain all players from 2022, the only must-have is an upgrade at the #2 WR position.

I specifically recall you wanting Jalen Phillips, the best edge guy from what nearly everyone knew. That guy is a player.

So, the need was correct, and much better than a top 10 corner as most assumed would happen.

I mean really, who in the media had Parsons as anywhere near the edge guy he is? The big buzz was him opting out and some shower incident.
The scouts did. "Originally recruited as a DE out of HS, it comes as no surprise that Parsons has the agility and moves to do damage when rushing the passer." And: "Dangerous edge rusher, showing terrific initial quickness and bend to dip, duck and deke his way past bigger slower blockers. Rips through would be blockers like a tornado, putting on a clinic when it comes to disengaging w/o sacrificing yardage."

It's become popular to state that no one knew, but that just isn't true. They did know. It was the TV spewers who were dumb enough to underrate his potential.

You should never be allowed to express your opinion about football if you didn't like the Parsons pick.
X gadzillions. Parsons should easily have been a top 5 pick. Stupid of NFL personnel to buy into the stupid crapp about him.

All I had was linebacker footage and his strength was playing forwards not backwards.

Pretty much everyone knows run stopping linebackers aren’t worth a premium pick.

The 1st round is about players that can affect the passing game. All Parsons showed he could do was blitz.

What he has done as an edge rusher there was no proof of anywhere and had their been we don’t get a chance to pick him much less trade down and still get him lol.

I’m not saying anything wild. It’s just common sense.

If he plays on the edge in college he’s a top 5 pick.

At linebacker his skill set was the same as Jaylon Smith. Sideways and downhill.

The two SB teams have drafted well and picked up some good free agents. That's not a coincidence.
Cowboys fans don't even know what most other teams did in free agency.

The Chiefs:
WR Juju Smith-Schuster. Replacement for Tyreek Hill. Downgrade.

Safety Justin Reid. A replacement player for Tyrann Mathieu. They got younger, not necessarily better.

2022 Reid (KC): 0 INTs, 7 passes defensed, tackles 83.
2022 Mathieu (Saints): 3 INTs, 8 passes defensed, tackles 91.

The Cowboys signed Dante Fowler:
6 sacks
7 tackles for loss
9 QB hits

You're just digging yourself into a deeper hole.

Just admit your were comically wrong and move on.

In 2021 the played the majority of snaps at off-ball LB and won the DROY.
- He was a top 3 off-ball LB as a rookie.

I’m right about the linebacker. Nothing impressive.

I had no idea he could play the edge and it took me about halfway through the Chargers game to say make the switch.

Cowboyszone didn’t agree with me. Dan Quinn did.

I think Kearse was an outstanding signing and I hope they are able to keep him. The fans complained for years about the safeties and we now have good ones. I hope Kearse, Wilson and Hooker return in 2023.
