Not that he needs it. I'm looking for Nate Burleson to get drilled a few times Sunday.

"Listen, I like Dez," Burleson said Tuesday. "I think he's one of the best receivers in the game right now. Very talented, fast, big, strong -- he possesses all the tools to possibly be as good as Calvin.

"But he's not Calvin Johnson. No way, no how. Sorry, Dez. Keep it real."

This will probably not be a popular comment, but Burleson kind of has a point. He's a hell of a player, but Calvin Johnson is on a planet of his own right now. Having said that, there's no doubt that Dez CAN, and probably WILL be there at some point. It's easy to forget that the guy is only 24 years old, he hasn't even come close to hitting his ceiling.

I'm fine with people not seeing it as inflammatory. I don't think it was very insulting either.

But here's hoping Dez and Co. see it differently and their motivation goes up a notch. :D

Burleson was making a comment about something Dez said that was taken out of context. No bulletin board material here. Don't watch or read ESPN. It turns your mind into mush.

Burleson is not playing sunday.

Espn 1033 got dez to give a statement they were dying to get and then they ran it to national espn who just make it look like dez said he is better than Johnson.

Espn 1033 sucks, they have let go of a number of their people and it wont be long before the rest are toast also replaced with lousy national shows.

Yeah, they are extremely difficult to listen to, and are doing so poorly, that they'll be operated by the Ticket going forward.

Dez is incredible but he ain't Calvin Johnson. Then again no one else is either. Dez must be in the top five or so WRs now without looking at the stats.

the stats for dez and Johnson are almost identical.

That may be but if I had to pick one guy right now for this season it would be Johnson. It may not be fair to compare them one on one as they are not the same type of receiver. Dez is a more athletic and faster Irvin IMO. Johnson may be in a category all by himself. Without looking at a list of WRs I would think maybe Moss has been the only one like him and he brought a lot of package with him.

yep Johnson is a tremendous player.

There is nothing wrong with Burleson's comments.

Regardless of what any of us think about Calvin Johnson, I'll bet Dez takes some degree of offense to the notion that he's not on Calvin's level.

As would any top-flight WR who's a big-time competitor.

Listen, I think that Calvin Johnson is the best WR right now too, but I don't think it's as far away as everyone makes it out to be. Everyone needs to get out of the sheep mentality that whatever everyone else believes and whatever ESPN is shoving down your throat, it must be true.

Just because you see Calvin Johnson on the highlight reel on ESPN doesn't make him the best receiver in the NFL. He had a MONSTROUS year last year, but is back to his career averages this season, which are basically in line with the other top receivers.

Unless there is someone out there that can actually tell me why Calvin is head and shoulders above Dez, AJ Green, Julio, etc, besides giving an answer of "he just is." I'm all ears.

Statistics don't always tell the whole story though, this is one of those cases.

Yeah, one of those cases where the stats don't support those of you who like to believe that Calvin Johnson is the greatest thing since sliced bread. What stories aren't these statistics telling, that Johnson has a fabulous smile? Give me a break, Dez's stats are very comparable to Johnson's because Dez's talent and impact is very comparable to Johnson's.

Dez is Dez and CJ is CJ and both are great WRs, but CJ is the best WR right now, I can't argue that but Dez is very close to him.

I think Dez has started to pass him this year.

Wouldn't surprise me if this game is the passing of the torch and Dez leaves him.

As good as Calvin is I don't think there is a better redzone threat than Dez.
