Burden vs Savion Williams (TCU)

Go back and watch yesterdays draft show. Early part of the show Nick Harris talking about Williams: prefaces his comments with i have excellent contacts at TCU, his contacts are worried that Williams will have a hard time learning a pro offense/ playbook. Yeah the guy looks like a lab creation but IMO that is a huge red flag. They need to hit on their first three picks minimum. WR have a fairly high bust risk to begin with. I would be very leary about drafting him early.
I think Burden is a full round ahead of Williams bc of his route running. It was more diverse in 23’ when the team didn’t suck so bad.

On the draft show yesterday Nick referenced he’s heard from TCU sources Williams may struggle to pick up a playbook.
Remember Cordarelle Patterson in NE when Belichick had to line him up on NE's sideline so coaches coule tell him what to do

I think MM actually used Lamb correctly, everyone else is debatable. He would find ways to give him the ball, screens, carries, reverses, etc. I think you have to use the same method on booth these receivers as they as so good with the ball in their hands.
Yea, that’s a good point but we just have to start creating space for everyone else. Guys like Tolbert, Brooks etc just seemed to be running the same boring crap all the time.

Burden would be so much fun - him and Lamb both splitting those manufactured touches?

Unfortunately...

Thos is about stringing posters along...

No coach is going to solve all this, by design.

I think belicheck, assuming it's all real, could clean a lot of stuff up...but that os not what this world wants.

It wants sabotage. Thos is all fake or would have been clean up years ago. Jerry is a lame excuse. Stephen is a lame excuse, dak is a lame excuse. Drafting is a lame excuse.

There are no more excuses. The mask is off. Space time is about frustrating. God is lousy

I agree, they can get very creative. Let's also not forget about Turpin, either. He is another electric player in space.

Williams quite a bit more than Burden…

My only concern with taking someone like Williams would be if we get another stagnant OC that only runs slants, hitches and gos etc. We need someone that can get an impact out of Savion in year 1…MM wouldn’t.
The coach Jerry selects will have a huge impact on this draft. That is why I am just waiting to see who it will be before I make any draft predictions.

-Both are excellent in yards after catch
-Neither are considered strong route runners at this stage
-Burden is quicker/faster, Williams has huge size with a bigger catch radius
Burden is not faster. Williams has some quickness as well as speed.

Burden: 40 time: 4.50
Savion: 40 time: 4.43

I would take Savion Williams.

He’s the best athlete on the field in just about every game he plays.
I have seen unofficial times where Burden is at 4.41, Williams 4.45.

Burden is the better yac player in my opinion, but Williams could potentially be a red zone monster with that size/athleticism.

4.45 sounds about right…the 10 yard split is where he’ll shine IMO. His burst is silly.

This is the hardest position for me to project this offseason. Don't love anyone other then Lamb/Turpin on our roster, don't like the depth in both fa and the draft. It's a huge need, if they truly want to go against these elite squads.

Would you double down in the draft? Ex Burden in the 1st then maybe a small school guy with upside in the 5th?

I probably wouldn’t as they already have prospects on their current roster like Mingo, Flounoy

Yeah, I heard the same thing on the show.

Fair enough - I’d 100% be open to throwing a 5th round pick on someone like Nick Nash or Ricky White.
