So now the Bengals are a great franchise?

So many excuses…. Dak was simply not the QB his defenders thought he was. He was a horrible long-term investment that fell into the ideal circumstances, of which if Romo started, we arguably could have had a SB win and a few conference championships and appearances.

Joe Burrow will be cashing in pretty soon. Hurts will eventually cash in and Purdy may cash if he continues to play this way. You can’t just invest a draft pick on a QB every year and hope to strike lightning in a bottle. We had a real good deal with Dak for several years but we had to finally pay him. Fans are acting like all you do is draft a QB somewhere in the draft and you found your new starter for the next several years on a cheap rookie contract. Lol If some of you think there’s a Brock Purdy late in the draft every year good luck. Drafting a QB is the ultimate crapshoot.
Morons most of them. Bad memories too. They must have forgot the Jerry search for a QB Between Aikman and Romo. That is what we have to look forward to. I dont trust Jerry to find another QB. Both Romo and Dak were pure luck.

And if Jerry drafts a young QB with a high pick he will force him on the franchise like he did Quincy Bong Carter. That will be a nice 3 or 4 years of under 500, then we start over again. Or he he will sign some aging vet like Carr and it will be the same story.

Its really a no win at this point. Maybe start drafting in the 3rd and 4th rounds and hope one develops. The defense is too good right now to blow this thing up.

Careful with Purdy just yet, he's been very fortunate to not get picked off. He's nearly been trying the last couple of weeks.

Burrow could win anywhere, maybe even here.

Need real coaches with real schemes to make guys like Hurts and Purdy effective.

We have an 80 year old telling a guy with no other experience as an OC what he wants to see more of…

Can’t compete off the field.
With an HC who is just happy to have a job.

How many SBs did the Patriots win during Brady‘s 2nd, 3rd and 4th contracts (not doing the research but it has to be around 3-4)? Mahomes isn’t on a rookie deal and may win it all this year. Josh Allen isn’t on a rookie deal and he is on a damn good team. There has been many QBs who have won SBs after their rookie deals.

You’re insinuating like it’s easy to find a SB caliber QB in the draft. It’s really not.
This year was the last year of Josh Allen's rookie contract. The extension he signed starts in 2023.

Besides Brady, there have not been many QBs that have won super bowls on second contracts. But it's not like it can't happen, as long as your cap hit isn't that high. You want your quarterback's cap hit to be closer to 10% rather than 20% of your salary cap. Similar to how the Rams got there with Matt Stafford. In 2020 I'm pretty sure Brady was under 10% of their salary cap.

The Bengals will be a great franchise because I bet Joe Burrow will be a hall of fame quarterback

Exactly.. everybody in Cincinnati knows Joe Burrows turned a horrendous franchise that was bottom of the barrell into a contender, meaning they found that QB..

Folks now acting like the Bengals were a great franchise even before he came to defend this average QB…

Its an anamoly.

Just last year 3 of the 4 were on multi-contracts and Stafford won.

2020- Mahomes, Allen, Brady, Rodgers and Brady won.

2019- Rodgers, Mahomes, Jimmy G, Tannehill. Mahomes (1st contract)
Just because QBs got extensions doesn't mean they aren't still on rookie deals. This year was the first year of Mahomes 10 year extension. Mahomes and Allen were still on their rookie deals in 2020. Next year starts Allen's big money extension.

I don't mind paying a QB big money if the QB is worth big money.
What quarterback in the league is worth BIG money? Mahomes? Burrow? Baltimore doesn't want to pay Jackson. Wilson?? Dak was the only BIG money quarterback to make it this far.

You literally just mentioned Mahomes and then tried to say Dak is the only BIG money QB to make it to the divisional round?

Josh Allen also did.

And look at the dumb deals the Cardinals gave Kyler Murray and the Browns gave Deshaun Watson. Just remember rather than paying him you could trade your QB for a couple of picks and use one draft another. If you took a QB every other year you will always have developing. Like Parcels said - if they aren’t there by the third year move on.

Daniel Jones won't get paid big money and led his team just as far as Dak.
That’s because his first 3 years had him almost out of the league…it’s one thing to have an opinion but don’t bend truths to fit your narrative.

There’s plenty of criticism and stuff to bash dak on this week

Leaving little details out or "forgetting" about them is the best way to defend Dak.
Some of you guys are really spoiled. 12-5 with a playoff win. Move on. HOPE NEXT SEASON IS BETTER. This is the best we've been in 28 years. Yet- from this forum you'd think we went 0 and 17.

You correct regarding Josh Allen’ contract. Reading the rest oh this post, are you a proponent to drafting a starting QB every 4 years or not? It’s sounds like you are.
