How many SBs did the Patriots win during Brady‘s 2nd, 3rd and 4th contracts (not doing the research but it has to be around 3-4)? Mahomes isn’t on a rookie deal and may win it all this year. Josh Allen isn’t on a rookie deal and he is on a damn good team. There has been many QBs who have won SBs after their rookie deals.

You’re insinuating like it’s easy to find a SB caliber QB in the draft. It’s really not.
Brady cheated. He took lower salary, while Kraft donated large sums of money to Tom's "charity"....from which Tom paid himself as a leader of charity. It wasn't illegal, but it completely violates the spirit of the NFL and gave them an unfair advantage. Not surprising: they cheated whenever they could, with zero guilt. Who knows what they would have done had they played by same rules WE do.

The other QBs u mention, including Burrow, are ELITE. You HAVE to pay them...but still how many SBs has HOFer Aaron rogers won since the Packers signed him to a MEGA contract? None, because they can't afford good players.

Short of Mahomes, Allen, and Burrow, I'd be REAL leery of giving 1 guy 20% of ur cap...and even with those 3, it really limits ur team.

So you’re against your Eagles resigning Hurts (No matter if he wins a SB). Got it.

You correct regarding Josh Allen’ contract. Reading the rest oh this post, are you a proponent to drafting a starting QB every 4 years or not? It’s sounds like you are.
That's a tough question. It's all easier said than done. This year Patrick Mahomes cap his is 16.8% of the cap. I don't think any QB has ever won with that kind of cap hit. So you better have a QB like Mahomes if you're going to do that. But his cap hits will look better as the years go on and the cap rises.

Teams can get to the SB with QBs like Garoppolo, but his cap hit was 10% at the time.

To answer your question, I guess I would not pay a QB market value that isn't at least close to elite. Once those big cap hits start, it's hard to win with the elite QBs.

I'm a cowboy fan.

But if I WERE an eagle fan?

IDK. If he wants to he highest paid player in league? He'd have to be able to prove to me he can excel with a mix of average and slightly above average players around him, vs having half the ProBowl squad surrounding him like he does now.

I'm probably biased cuz of the situation we've found ourselves in with Dak...and while I know Hurts is better than Dak, I also know he isn't Mahomes or Burrow.

They will be in a tough situation soon. My advice: win the SB NOW, while u have this advantage

That’s because his first 3 years had him almost out of the league…it’s one thing to have an opinion but don’t bend truths to fit your narrative.

There’s plenty of criticism and stuff to bash dak on this week
To be fair Jones played behind a HORRIFIC o line during those three years. Of course, he his issues but jeepers if Prescott played behind that line he wouldn't be in the league any longer. Also Josh Allen has played behind a GASH o line the majority of his career in Buffalo yet people just say oh he has loads of weapons...he is their running game and has to manage his game behind a questionable o line

Hurts is better than Dak with the offense Philly runs, just like Justine Fields is better than Dak on that same offense. Hurts would not be good at all on an offense like the Cowboys have. Two totally different systems. Dak is not a serious threat to run, so he wouldn't work on Philly.

There were bigger issues than just o line play for Daniel jones. That’s grossly simplifying things. Also not sure what Josh Allen has to do with dak or jones.

There’s a reason jones is getting paid less on his contract than dak did on his extension.

3 of the 4 QB's in the championship games are on their rookie deals. Burrow 3rd year, Hurts 2nd year and Purdy 1st yr. In todays NFL maybe it just doesn't make sense to pay the big number and makes more sense to take a QB every year at some point in the draft just to always be churning the QB roster. In todays NFL you need to spread the money around. Thoughts?
Burrow and Hurts will be on their second contracts a year from now. It’s not about being on a rookie contract. Rookie contracts don’t make SB teams. Philly would have won that NY game and be playing SF even with Minshew. SF is where they are because they are a great team with a great coach; They’d be where they are if Garapolo was still starting, and they are paying him even though he’s not playing. Despite Hurts on his rookie deal, Philly is still paying dead cap money for Wentz through 2024.

You either have a great NFL team with a top OL, DL, run game, and playmakers on both sides of the ball or you have a generational QB who can make up for a single short coming As long as it’s not playmakers. That’s who’s still in the playoffs. Burrow is a great QB who has a great defense at all levels, great weapons, a good RB, but a patchwork OL. Mahommes is a great QB with a rebuilt OL, amazing weapons even without the Cheetah, the best TE inthe NFL who can take over games, great coaching, and an above average defense. Purdy/Garapolo are good, not great QBs with probably the best team around them in the NFL. Physical and dominating on both sides of the ball. All Pro players at all three levels of the defense with the best LBing corps in the NFL, and they still made a huge mid year deal to bring in McCaffrey for his running and receiving.

What does Dallas have?
  • a meddling media mogul owner who impacts and distracts the culture
  • 2 coordinators that we love when their units dominate and hate when their units get dominated…..because they are not consistent on either side of the ball
  • a QB who was considered above average except for the partial season of wr by committee and this season with only one starting caliber wideout…..not elite, but sometimes on the verge…..inconsistent
  • 1 wr who would start on any of the remaining playoff teams
  • a washed up RB hamstringing the salary cap more than the QB and giving much less production
  • a slightly above average TE in production who is below average as a blocker and in athletic ability
  • an OL with one pro bowler, one rookie, an average center, an aging LT playing RT, a LG no one believes in
  • a Genius OC who calls some of the biggest head scratching plays, including his game Enders in the past two playoff losses
  • definitely the worst DT corps among all playoff teams and only one effective LB because everything falls apart when he isn’t playing

This team had a very good year, but fans continue to believe what Jerry and the media feed them about the roster. If you think our roster is as good as Philly, SF, Cinn, or KC, you are delusional.

CeeDee would def start on those teams, if we're considering the Top 3 wide outs "starters" as most teams do now.

If you change definition to TOP TWO wr, then that statement gets far cloudier.

Burrow could win anywhere, maybe even here.

Need real coaches with real schemes to make guys like Hurts and Purdy effective.

We have an 80 year old telling a guy with no other experience as an OC what he wants to see more of…

Can’t compete off the field.

I agree. Burrow and Mahomes are the new Brady and Manning. Purdy and Hurts are on super teams as was Stafford when he won last year.

Regarding Allen - that was in reference to other posters criticising his play when yes, of course he could play better but he doesn't have future hall of famers and seasonal all pros blocking for him.

With Daniel Jones, ball security has been a huge issue for him but it starts with the o line. If a QB continually has little time to throw nor much of a running game (early on outside of Barkley) then unless it's a once in a generation type QB like Burrow then the results are inevitable.

Prescott has had it so good over the entirety of his career. As a full body of work he has had a boat load of help compared with the vast majority of other quarterbacks in the league yet apparently it still isn't enough! People cite the few games in between Dez and Cooper as though that was that whole season and it's the type of problems he has had to deal with his whole career. It's laughable.

If you have a guy like mahomes or prime arodg, you pay them. Otherwise, I like what op said. Build the best roster you can evenly and hope to get a decent to good qb's on rookie deals.

Daniel jones play was not all about the o line…there’s multiple plays where he had time and made terrible throws. There’s plays where he fumbled the ball on routine bootlegs. He had 500 more yards rushing this year because they dumbed down his job so much because they didn’t trust him going into the year as thrower.

Daniel jones the first 3 years with what dak had still sucks and that’s why his extension will be less than daks was.

Exactly.. everybody in Cincinnati knows Joe Burrows turned a horrendous franchise that was bottom of the barrell into a contender, meaning they found that QB..

Folks now acting like the Bengals were a great franchise even before he came to defend this average QB…
Lets not forget when your franchise has been down a long time you have good draft picks on the roster and at some point it may come together
