Butch Davis would love to coach the Dallas Cowboys if Bill Parcells retires

Butch ran cleveland like he ran Miami he let the players have rule over the roost and when he tried to gain control they stopped playing for him. He isn't a strict disciplinarian but I am sorry with Dallas having the rep it does it has the allure of Miami in the college ranks you cannot have a weak minded head coach or you end up with the Switzer,Gailey,Campo era all over again.

Don't say nooooo to quickly. Remember that Belicheck (sp) was not too good at Cleveland his first try either.

And Tony Romo is the next Tom Brady because he plays behind Drew Bledsoe. Can you be any more simplistic?

I agree. He might not be a bad coach (as long as he had strong X's and O's guys on the staff to help him out), but this guy should not be anywhere near the draft room.

He just can't help himself when it comes to "coaching up" a talented project (see William Green). Really, he should stick to college where he'll have 25-30 scholarships to hand out every year and he could just run off the kids who can't cut the mustard, which is pretty much what he did at Miami.

Thats not all, he is the same person who coached Portis but picked Green instead.....Now how smart can you be to see someone everyday and not see the talent in him......

I was listening to one of those "talk" radio shows on the Cowboys website and I think it was this spring, but it could have been last year. Anyway, somebody brings up the issue of Butch Davis as BP's successor and Spags said it was HE (Davis) that convinced everybody to draft Shante Carver. Spags thought that alone would guarantee that Davis would never be our HC...

That's pretty stupi considering all the other bad draft picks we've made in the past.

Quincy Carter was Jerry's baby - should we find a replacement for him?

Again, Gailey doesn't fit into this category at all.

Discipline wasn't a strong point with Switzer and Campo, but it was a big part of Gailey's 2-year tenure ... and the players didn't like it.

Rumor has it that Portis didn't have a friend on the team and that he was a locker room cancer.

Of course, that's nothing compared to Green's problems.

Remember, Jerry reportedly loved Green, too.

hire Butch Davis, why? so he can run Anthony Henry out of town...again?

I know this may have just been a statement intended as humor, but did Henry have a problem with Davis or did Henry just leave because the money was better in Dallas (that and Clevlenad sucked) ......?

Henry left because the year before he was scheduled to hit the FA market, Butch made Daylon McCutheon(SP) his highest-paid CB, he wouldn't resign w/ Cleveland after that, even though they gave him a similar offer as we did during free agency

My next question is was Davis the GM as well as the coach? Ownership and management are the ones who make salary decisions, so if Davis wasn't the GM this may be an unfair statement.

Davis was pulling the strings over there...its widely reported its why Ron Wolf left after almost no time there
