Butch Davis would love to coach the Dallas Cowboys if Bill Parcells retires

No he wouldn't. He's already seen Dave Campo coach the cowboys. The rolling has already occured.
Same thing I said in my second post in this thread.

Yeah I didn't read the whole thread when I posted that. :D

I agree though, Landry wouldn't exactly "approve" of Davis coaching the cowboys.

Not quite the point I was making. I'm sure he rolled several times when he saw such a proud franchise under the guidance of Campo.

Needless to say I'm not impressed by Butch Davis. His college coaching career might have been successful. His professional career is not quite as stellar.

I agree that he would not be a top choice for us, but like I said, we have to at least be fair and recognize that he took over a bad team with bad management in Cleveland. It took Landry several years to build a winner.

I think I'm being fair in recognizing the fact that the team he left was in worse shape than when he took over and is still scraping the bottom of the barrel in the standings because of the amount of rebuilding that was required from the years under him.

This is a legitimate comment, but it's also legitimate to wonder why the Browns have sucked for years and years and years - not just through Davis but through multiple coaches before him. Perhaps ownership and management have a hand in it ........ it's a fair thought.

I'm an avid Cowboys and Hurricane fan. I would much rather see him return to the U, than come back to be HC for Dallas. Damn! Coker has killed evrything that Davis spent 4 years building.

i think people here are being unfair to Butch Davis, yes he didnt have much success his first go around but the players he had were horrible and didnt really have much chance to build a good team. Not saying that he would be my first choice to replace Parcells but i wouldnt mind him being considered.

I don't hate the idea of having Butch as our HC. He's going to need a lot of help tho. A solid offensive coor, and let the drafrt dept. do it's thing.

I'm afraid Butch Davis' image in Dallas suffers from being associated with Dave Campo in people's minds.

All i know is the University of miami fans are dying for butch davis to come back. Coker is gone after this season. Butch is a better suited for the college ranks.

I think there would be mixed feelings on Butch, since he stuck it to Miami when he left...he said he'd never go the n afew days later took a huge amount of money from Cleveland and bolted

I'm sure there would be alot of fans who'd prefer him over Coker, but I wonder how many of the really influential alumni want to mess with him after what he did there...I wont be surprised if they get Barry Alvarez because of his connections with the president there, another name to watch out for might be Tommy Tubberville....I think Davis may end up at Arkansas

If it was between Campo and Davis.....gimme Davis. BUT he's better hire a certain coach that he worked with to be the OC...Norv Turner. There is no doubt that Norv is a better OC than HC.

In fairness to Butch, he didn't inherit a very good team. Not only that, but the team hadn't been very good in a very long time, which suggests more than just coaching flaws, but weaknesses in personnel and management.

Great point!

Biggest mistake Davis made was leaving Miami for the Hell of the Browns.

Crennel doesn't look like half as good a coach now in Cleveland as he did in New England.

Stay away from the Browns.

Im tellin ya....Somehow, someway, Mike Holmgren WILL be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys. JJ has already professed his manlove for the Walrus. Heck, Bp has said he has nothing but respect for Mike. Last year there were rumors of Mike being the next coach in Big D. Now ponder this......QUICK, name ONE QB who Holmgren has worked with who hasnt been a success? Lets see, Montana, Young, Favre, Brunnell, Hasselback....Pretty impressive list. Now think about our young QB tony Romo. How do you think he would fit into Mikes system? I say like a GLOVE. If a team had a young QB to develope is there any other coach you would rather have working with him besides Mike?...didnt think so. His record with QB's speaks for itself. We have a young dominant defense in place for years to come, now add a guy like Holmgren to run the offense and your in business. Lastly, ....the guys been to 3 superbowls and won two of them "YEAH I know he lost to Pittsburgh but anybody watching that game KNOWS the Hawks got jobbed!...LOL". Anyway....just something to consider.

Just say No to Davis and Stoops. We will probably stuck with the disaster that is Zimmer, why make it worse?

of those 3 I'd definitely prefer Davis

Stoops is one of the most overrated coaches around right now and if he ever does go pro, he'll be a major flop
