Butler is a playmaker, he was the same way in college. I guess Dallas has the 1st round money in Spencer so they need to play him but I think Bulter might push him for the job next summer.

Well, im going on the record to say this, I believe that if Butler keeps making plays getting Jerry Jones out of his seat, he will be getting alot of playing time soon.

When I saw Spencer limp off, I was actually not at all worried because I knew butler was coming in. That was nice.

Announcers actually said Carp taking his place...I was worried but then I saw Butler...felt better.

Butlers awesome. It seems like we have a few good players who are always THIS CLOSE to making a big or important play, but never actually making it. Spencer's the first guy that comes to mind

When Butler's been out there, he's actually MADE the plays at extremely important times

Butler has at least earned the opportunity to spell Spencer pretty regularly.

We have to keep perspective on what he's done in limited snaps because it always occurs at the end of the game - i.e. he's got fresh legs because he's just getting STs snaps. But, if we start working him in earlier, we keep both of them fresh and maybe our pass rush is a little stronger in crunch time.

Right now, he looks quicker off the snap of the ball than even Ware. He has a burst. O-Tree, Butler and Buehler are making this draft look pretty good with J. Williams, Hamlin and Brewster waiting in the wings also.

Butler should see at least 8 pass rush downs per game IMHO.

Spencer is a Wade draft pick

he's been trying to get him to start forever

he's just being stubborn

Spencer can continue to start and play the majority of snaps. But why cant you find 10-15 snaps for a guy who has demonstrated an ability to rush the passer? Heck, we could even bring Butler in as a 3rd OLB on obvious passing downs.

We need this guy in on 3rd and long more often.

3 sacks in limited appearances !

He made a great play on Nabby. I really like what I've seen from his so far.

Yeah...I don't have anything against Spencer, in fact I think he is a very good player. However, Butler needs some snaps for no other reason than to give either OLB a breather and provide a little change of pace. Kid is pretty quick and seems to have a knack for getting to the QB.

Exactly. My guess is that Spencer lacks the speed of "V" :D but is more powerful and capable of shedding blockers and playing the run. "V" is very quick (4.5 I think, maybe we should ask Mcchunky) but gets pushed around kind of like Carpenter. He will get there, Wade is going to continue to give him opportunities I'm sure.

I think that's it -- he's simply not that big, and they're afraid he'll get pushed around in the run game. That may always be a limitation for him.

I do think he should play more in passing situations, though. And I suspect he will as we go along. He's only halfway through his rookie season, you know. And like Wade said, when Brandon Williams got hurt, Butler had to flip and learn both positions, which made it harder on him. Now that CuJo is back, I'm sure Butler can focus on just one.

Let's hold off on that though. Ware played all game long. So in comparison he's going to look faster. And that's what Butler's role should be right now. As a pass rush specialist. Come in some in the 4th and dominate. Because right now Spencer isn't playing terrible. Its just mind boggling how he's always ALMOST THERE.

He needs a series or two a game. Play making skills need to be refined by repetitions.

we need consistent pressure against Rodgers and a fresh body who can really get after the QB should get more playing time.

....................speaking of Lb's: how about Barbie last night? man, the guy has come off the scrap heap IMO; he can cover but last night: he was tackling too: no bust now. (still a disappointment: but no bust at least)
