First let me be the first to admit I am a proud RCG guy.
I'd be miserable otherwise.
I certainly could be guilty of talking myself into this team succeeding.

All that said, the tea leaves are there for me.
I predicted a fairly healthy record this year and based in large part on a good out of gate performance that would mirror 2016 with a few more losses down the stretch.

I see that coming to fruition now.
The schedule which looked light seems even more so through 2 weeks.

SEA on the road is tough as nails but that SEA OL is truly awful. And we likely have the better defense.
DET doesn't even try to run the ball and plans to pass all day versus this defense? Seems a bad way to win anything.
HOU gets up for us like a SB but can they block anyone?
JAX is good.
WAS is pretty bad.

That takes us to the BYE week. I'd expect us to be 5-2 at that point all feeling pretty good about ourselves.
Our young team should also be growing up.
But the stretch run will get harder on that back half the schedule and we will have to be better to lock down the playoffs.

Why am I back in this happy place off one win versus a bad team?
Largely because I find this defense to be excellent the offense to have added a lot of speed.
I am willing to grant week 1's ineptitude (player and coach) was largely due to taking the entire pre-season off.

Welcome back.

No stock to buy as Jerry and family own it all. You can buy loads of jerseys on the Cowboy website and re-sell them on ebay if that
is your ilk. The season is young and Dak is still struggling so I suppose you can spend your money and takes your chances.

There is a legitimate chance to get to about 4-2. No doubt.

Will they have themselves sorted out by then to face the real teams in this league?

I hope you're right, but I need to see better numbers and consistency out of this offense before I start to truly feel better about our chances.

Even though Seattle is down, they're usually a challenge defensively, so if the Cowboys can move the ball, score points and win this game, my needle will shift more toward where yours is right now. But I need another week of convincing.

games in this week to week and year to year league are hard to win and easy to lose take it one week at a time and see where it goes I guess this team is really young but if the could string some wins together and get there confidence going they will be hard to beat whoever they play they need to be consistent more than anything with the coaching and qb play

4 or 5 wins at the break is definitely doable. All the teams we face have significant o-line problems and our front 7 is well above average. If Irving can come back and be his destructive self.

Dak took and positive step from week 1 to week 2. He still has a ways to go however. One good thing is that he is not turning the ball over. If he continues to do that we will be in every game even if he does continue to struggle.

But against the tough teams we are up against after the bye, this offense will need to have itself figured to have a chance.

Garrett and Linehan are the limiting factor for this team.

I think you're in this happy place because you've been rooming with Gregory

Why would you come on this board and post something optimistic? It's way more fun to completely rip and bemoan something you supposedly love and are a fan of.

I bought my stock in 2014. I'm still waiting for it to increase in value.

I sold my emotional stock over the past few years. I no longer have to deal with the lows associated with the "market"

Things can still go either way but I like our team’s upside. In the NFL, as long as you have a very good defense, you will be in every game. As bad as they played at Carolina, remember that they were driving for the game tying drive in the fourth quarter.

If they do beat Seattle on the road, then they’ll start 5-2. Irving will presumably be back as well, and I fully expect the E.T. trade to happen before the trading deadline.

You’re right to be optimistic OP. With this defense, there isn’t a game on the schedule that you can write off as an L.

To be fair, the team has consistently disappointed the fan base since 1996. I think a lot of fans try to tamper expectations and not get excited so that they won’t be disappointed later.

But where is the fun in that?

Going to disagree in this sense.
Since Jason Garrett took over this team has won 68 games and lost 56.
There have been plenty of chances to be happy and enjoy a win.
This isn't CLE.

But we have a group of fans who can't even be happy after wins.
And if it takes a 13-3 season for that person to be happy they will be miserable the vast majority of the time.

Very true, not as much fun, but it does not ruin a few days either!

Or you can just come in here and rain on the parade with negativity in every post. As opposed to looking at all the good side of things.
Take you $80 you save on a jersey, and go by pokeman cards or something like that. Either way, it is money spent on what one likes to do.

The fan base doesn’t care about 9-7 or 13-3. They want to see our team in an NFC Championship Game.

Mind you, that’s not my mindset personally. I just enjoy each season for what it is. I love my team win or lose. But I do get the other side.
