Buyer Beware: Will Campbell

I guess the Cheatriots dont subscribe to Steve's channel. Supposedly they like him a lot.

Joe Thomas had short arms so that has never been a deal killer for me
Campbells arm length is one inch shorter

So maybe he is not a HOF only a pro bowl guy

I’m in between on Campbell. I don’t think he’s as much of a risk as the video is making it seem, but I also don’t think he’s a “can’t miss” franchise LT that is a lock for top 10…in most draft classes.

To me he’s 1 of a handful of prospects in a draft that lacks elite prospects getting pushed up higher than they would normally. This class lacks truly elite prospects at some key big $ positions like QB, LT, WR and CB. It will be interesting to see if teams ignore the risk and take the best available at those key positions or decide to go BPA at less traditional positions (G, S, LB, TE)

I would say in a more normal draft class Campbell would be in the 10-15 range…much like a very similar prospect in Peter Skoronski. And yes, I’d take Campbell in a heartbeat at 12

The weird take by the dude in the video is asinine. If a guy can play,he can play. Campbell can play at a high level. I don't care about his arms. His tenacity makes up for it.
its the same as thinking a tenth of a second on the 40 means you cannot play

It's not so much Campbell's arm length that concerns me, or should I say that it's not the only concern. The part that gets less attention is that he's an average mover. He could overcome short arms if he was a Rashawn Slater type athlete, but he's just not there. And the combo of the two becomes a real problem when DEs take him out to "deep water" on the edge, especially when they get him wide and hit him with a bull rush.

Campbell's an excellent guard prospect IMO. He's strong, has great technique, and looks pretty good at climbing up to hit LBs on run plays. I think he's a 10-year starter inside. But the deeper into space he goes, the worse he gets.

I'd happily draft him in the teens as a guard. But if he gets drafted in the 5-10 range and asked to start at LT, some team's not going to end up very happy with their pick.

Yep, even if he can play tackle the first couple of years he’s probably going to need to be moved to guard in 2 or 3 seasons!

Perfect case of prospect fatigue.

Dudes been a top 10 pick for like 3 years so analysts are getting board. Try him at LT, if it doesn’t work plug him in at G and you have a quality starter foradecade/

Nobody here looks at tape. They are repeating what people who look at tape publish online or say on tv.
the subject was the person in the video saying how great Campbell is on tape but ignore it because his arms are an inch or so short.
keep up dude

I get concerned when OL don't do the bench press at the combine. Maybe he does it at his pro-day. But when players don't do the bench press I wonder if they are hiding a weakness. Guyton did not bench press at the combine or his pro-day and it turned out he has a lack of upper body strength that get him in trouble in the NFL.

For a 3rd round pick, I am not that concerned, but for a 1st round pick I need the guy to be NFL ready.

You should learn how to use the "reply" button so people can put your posts in context.

listening to him again did he not claim Campbell played very well and then went on about his physical limitations making the tape lie?
