I am going to buy a PS3. We got a 50" Samsung Plasma a couple weeks ago and love it. So now we are getting the BluRay player. Decided to go with the PS3 because of the versatility of the game/internet/bluray etc.

Anyway, I can get the 120G or the 250G. Basically it's 50.00 more for the 250. Is there an advantage to getting the larger HD other than just the storage?

Did the put something in the larger one that makes it worth more or perform better or is it just storage?

Thanks.

No difference that I'm aware of. I'd save the 50.00 (grab a game w/ it) and go with the smaller HD. Heck, I have the 60G system, and just use an external HD if I need more space.

You can swap out the HDD later if you need more space most computer HDDs work just fine. I have a 40GB HDD and i'm not even remotely close to filling so 250GB seems like overkill

Same opinion here. I have the 80GB and I'm not close to using it all up either. I'd save the $50 for a game or a bunch of movies.

Mine has the 80 gig and I haven't filled up even 10% of the hard drive. It really depends on how much you're willing to download (i.e. games, previews, etc.) or transfer (i.e. photo albums, etc.).

The only reason you'd need a bigger drive is if you plan to purchase a lot of content through the PS3 Store. Otherwise you'll never get close to filling up the smallest HD option. Same goes for the XBOX.

My TV goes into a screen save mode after a few minutes of inactivity.

Also, there is an option to put it into screen save if you are going to leave it for an extended period of time. Plus, can't you just turn the tv off if you are going to pause the game or movie?

I don't know as much as other people might know about Play Station 3. But I do have a Samsung Blu-ray player and about 50 or so Blu-ray movies. I got a lot of my Blu-ray movies brand new for around $10 or so at places like Amazon,Best Buy,Walmart ect. > A lot of Blu-ray movies have had some really good sale prices so you might find some really good deals online or in the store. I want to purchased all 3 seasons of the original Star Trek on Blu-ray while they are on sale. Do you have any Blu-ray movies right now and are there any Blu-ray movies that you are thinking about getting?

None yet because we don't have the bluray player yet. I know my kids want Cars on bluray. Other than that not sure yet.

A lot of the reviews that people have made on Amazon say the movie Cars looks very good on Blu-ray. For Cars on Blu-ray you can either get the Blu-ray by itself or get the combo pack that has the Blu-ray and an extra copy of the movie on standard Dvd and 2 Exclusive Cars.

1080P.

Why? does that have a bearing on the PS3?

Blue ray players and PS3's when used to their max potential should be played on 1080p. You will get the very best possible picture using 1080p.

Not to say the picture is bad on 1080i, just saying. You will be impressed. I guaranty it.

I don't think they even sell 1080i TVs anymore. They barely sell 720p either. Nowadays it's almost all 1080p with the differences being the type (LCD/Plasma/DLP) and the Hz rating (60 Hz/120 Hz/240 Hz).

3D TVs are a coming as well.

I don't know if I ever even saw any 1080i Tv when I was looking for my first HDTV. I did see a lot of 720p and 1080p. I ended up getting a 1080. I purchased my HDTV in July last year so maybe the number of 720p tvs has went way down in the last couple of months.

I also heard about 3D Tv's and 3D Blu-ray coming out also. I am curious how that will look. I have 4 movies on Blu-ray that are in 3D and I think they are really neat (I have not watched all of them yet). I am curious what the big difference will be with the way these 3D movies look on my standard Blu-ray player and standard HDTV and the way 3D movies will look on 3D Blu-ray players and 3D HDTVs.

The 3D movies that I have are 1. Journey to the Center of the Earth (I watched this one on Blu-ray) 2. The Polar Express (I also watched this one on Blu-ray 3. Coraline (I watched part of this one on Blu-ray and will get back to it later in time) 4. The Final Destination (I have not started watching this one on Blu-ray yet, but I will watch it later in time)

screen save is a good thing.

of course you can turn it off...but that doesnt mean you wont forget and end up with burn in....but you shouldnt have that prob with a save mode
