I think a trade down and then a trade up later are/is the best course, but I don't think there is any guarantee the Cowboys can get Zeke if they trade down. He could conceivably be taken anywhere.

if we go to 7 and ramsey and Elliot are gone, you take bosa. then we package Leary and our extra picks to get back in the 1st, Lynch, Doctson, Williams Jackson III, Rankins could all be an option

Cowboys “struggling” with whether to take Ezekiel Elliott

Two years ago, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones desperately wanted to use a first-round pick to obtain quarterback Johnny Manziel. Someone ultimately persuaded Jones to come in from that specific ledge.

This year, it’s widely believed that Jones wants running back Ezekiel Elliott with the fourth overall pick in the draft. As one source with knowledge of the team’s deliberations tells PFT, the Cowboys are currently “struggling” with whether to take Elliott.

The "struggle" is the Joneses and coaches vs Scouting Dept. If any of this is to be believed, this has been the case for weeks. Scouting Dept wants to stick to board and take BPA Ramsey.

I still think they trade down. .

Not Elliott... Just not a fan of taking a back that early.

Depending on how far they go down... they could get Bosa or Lawson or the DT Robinson.

I agree with you. I really do. I guess I've been sucked into the Elliot hype as well.

I'm just chalking it up as me not getting it lol.

The fact he is 6'0 230 totally shocks me because he runs like he is 5'9 205. Also he is faster than Leveon Bell.

I would probably use our 4th overall pick on a healthy Leveon Bell.

Is it the Joneses or Jerry.

I don't want any of the players that will be available with the 4th pick. There is not an elite player that doesn't have legit concerns. Trade back and stock up on picks, even if it is next year's picks. They will need all the picks to get a QB next year.

Was legit concern does Elliott carry?

One of the things that would scare me about taking a back that early is what happened to Bell... not specifically to Bell but backs in general in 2015– the amount of games lost by running backs due to injury was sick. You play fantasy football? Then you know how many of those backs taken in the first three rounds missed time– and it was an extraordinary number. And that's not going to change. The rules and the concussion protocol doesn't support a back playing a full season.

I want Zeke at 4.

However, a trade down is ideal. Wouldn't go any lower than 8. Assuming that Ramsey goes at 3, that leaves us any of Zeke, Buckner, Bosa, Rankins? 7 would be ideal spot for Zeke.

Im with you on all of that. I admit that I am falling sucker for a RB this high. It's definitely not the smartest move.
