By the Way, NFL, Did You Get the Message?

Fans love jumping the gun. Zeke after one game needs to go. Anthony Brown after one game needs to go. Greg the leg after one game needs to go. Amari after one game is the best in the bizz.

Let's just call that first date syndrome.

There are 19 WR's on the NFL 2021 Top 100 player's list.

Here are their week #1 results. At the bottom of the list is Amari Cooper's results (Apologies for the poor format):

Rank _ Player _ Rec _ Yards _ TD
6 _ Davante Adams _ 5 _ 56 _ 0

15 _ Tyreek Hill _ 11 _ 197 _ 1
22 _ DK Metcalf _ _ _
29 _ Julio Jones _ 3 _ 29 _ 0
48 _ Mike Evans _ 1 _ 5 _ 0
53 _ Ju Jefferson _ 5 _ 71 _ 0
55 _ Keenan Allen _ 9 _ 100 _ 0
62 _ A.J. Brown _ 4 _ 49 _ 1
65 _ Calvin Ridley _ 5 _ 51 _ 0

91 _ Corey Davis _ 5 _ 97 _ 2
94 _ Jarvis Landry _ 5 _ 71 _ 0
96 _ Cole Beasley _ 8 _ 60 _ 0

N/A _ Amari Cooper _ 13 _ 139 _ 2

Soft Amari Cooper. Lazy and uninspired Amari Cooper. Amari Cooper who desperately needed to play in the preseason. Amari Cooper who was letting his teammates down by not participating in practices even though he wasn't 100%. He should have "gutted it out".

Amari "lacked dedication". He wasn't committed enough to adequately prepare for the season. Obviously CeeDee was on the verge of passing him up to be the new #1.

One game does not make a season, to be sure. However, one game can show you just how wrong perceptions can be. Dak Prescott is the primary example of that but he isn't the only one.

How many of these "Top 100" receivers had more receptions than Amari? How many had more TD's? I count one of these top "impact players" to have more yards than Amari.

This simply represents just how biased, flawed and ultimately worthless this list is without the addition of Amari Cooper. How many of these NFL stars could have produced a 1000 yard season with 70% of the games quarterbacked by the backup and 10% of the games quarterbacked by the backup's backup or some guy freshly signed off the streets?

How many of these WRs could have produced a 1000 yard season while being traded in the middle of that season?

A thousand yard season for the past three consecutive years, 5 of his 6 seasons in the league. Four time Pro Bowler. He is 27 years old. He has missed one start in the past three seasons.

Has any other player in this league been more disrespected recently? Amari doesn't say much but doesn't it seem as though he made a statement last Thursday?
Yeah, all the Coop haters have crawled back under their rocks. He had 92 catches last year playing with the likes of Dalton, Rush and DiNucci.

Coop is one of the few big contracts Jerry has given that earns it.

He is one of the best rout runners in NFL history.

39 catches for 424 yards in the first 5 games for an average of 7.8 catches and 84.8 yards per game......and in the remaining 11 games he had 53 catches for 690 yards for an average of 4.8 catches and 62.7 yards per game.....so please do not make it out as if Cooper somehow was amazing with back-up QB's as that simply is not the case.

Now a-days, it seems like every nerd with a computer gets to determine who's better than whom based on stats. Maybe they should try this. WATCH.THE.GAMES.
Go ahead, watch the games. Then try to remember ten plays in that game 24 hours later..

Humans are funny, we remember what we choose to remember. That's why keeping a record, i.e. stats, allows us to maintain a balanced perspective.

I would never claim that stats tell us everything. They don't tell us the specific circumstances, strength of opponents, or the overall effect of the results. However, they do tell us specifically what happened without bias.

Not the smartest idea to come to any conclusion(s) whatsoever after one game.
The next thing you know there will be comparative stats on receivers in whatever quarter, or on Thursdays and Sundays, nighttime, daytime, sundown, cold weather, hot weather and location.
