I just want them to get into the playoffs, BUT what are the chances for a bye or god forbid homefield advantage throughout the playoffs

Not great barring a Chicago meltdown.
In the next five we need Chicago to lose to three games to either the Vikings,Packers,Lions, Rams or the Bucs.

We are in great shape for both. I'll be very disappointed if we are not the #2 seed in the playoffs. If someone beats Chicago (very possible IMHO) then the road to the super bowl goes thru Texas Stadium baby!!!!!!

Vikings and Rams will be tough on the Bears. Their offense sucks and Grossman can only hand off or throw deep.

I just want to beat the Giants right now. Talking about tie breakers is dizzying with so many games left.

As of right now, the NFC looks like this:

1: Chicago (9-2)
2: Dallas (7-4)
3: New Orleans (7-4)
4: Seattle (6-4)
5: New York (6-5)
6: Carolina (6-5)

The only team not listed that has a chance to sneak in is Atlanta IMO and they are fading fast. St. Louis, San Francisco, Minnesota, and Philly arent going anywhere.

So basically, we are competing with 4 other teams for the #2 spot, and we have the easiet schedule of any of them.

The seahawks will be tough to beat out for that second seed. The have a easy schedule, and getting healthier every week. There toughest game left is a trip to denver. They may go 11-5.

Don't forget Seattle lurking at 6-4 and still to play tomorrow. If they get all healthy they could cause trouble.

Actually, I think we're the third best team based on our poor division record.

The two very important games that will dictate whether we get a bye or not are:

@ New York - if we don't win this....
vs. New Orleans - decides the tiebreaker.

Worst case scenario: No Playoffs
Best case scenario: Home Field Advantage

Parcells needs to get this team ready to play for the closing stretch of this season. If we win against the Giants and the Saints, we'll be 9-4 with only:

@ Atlanta
vs. Philadelphia
vs. Detroit

I'm thinking that if we beat New York and New Orleans, we'll run the table and go 12-4, with a first round bye.

they also play San Diego

I'm way more worried about the Saints right now than I am the Giants. Anytime you've got a qb that can toss for over 500 yards/game, it can cause problems and plays right into our D's achilles heel.

They're playing some good ball right now and have always seemed to have our number even when they were starting that loser Aaron Brooks. Imho, of our remaining schedule, they are the only team that might give us problems.

Actually, Chicago would have to loose atleast 2 out of thier last 5 if not 3, and that is not very possilbe after you look at thier schedual.

We are in a dog fight for the 2cnd position so it is not going to be any cakewalk.

I would see 5% chance we get #1

55% chance we get #2

95% chance we get in.

Come on Jake Delhoume beat us in his 1st start ever back when he was like a 2nd year player

I would agree with that

The only way we get #1 is if the Bears completely collapse. We would have to win out and they would have to lose 3 of their last 5.

At the moment, I think the Cowboys are the third seed, based upon a worse Conference record then the Saints. Of course, the conference record won't matter after the two teams play head to head.

I'll have to take a closer look at Seattle's remaining schedule, but should both the Seahawks and Cowboys win out, I believe Seattle will have a better Conference record for the higher seed.

From here out, this is serious business. We need to win the rest of our games period.

If we do this, we will put fear into every NFC team including AFC. Secondly, the worst case scenario would be a 1st round bye. If you just win, you never know what other teams may do.

Personally, I see the Bears winning out as well, and possibly losing only one more. This means that every possession of every snap, every penalty, every pass, we have to be ready to rumble on every down. We can no longer afford collapses like the Washington debacle, we must be on our game.
