Our secondary has been unbelievable. I really hope we end up extending Mo and keep him here longterm, eventually extend B-Jones once his rookie deal is up, keep Church around as long as he keeps playing like he is, and eventually move Anthony Brown in as Carr's replacement as the other starting corner. Crazy how we suddenly seemed to fix our secondary when it was probably our biggest weakness as recent as last season. This defense is literally a healthy Jaylon Smith and an above average pass rusher (Randy Gregory if he ever gets his crap together?) away from being great.

I believe you still have to treat Gregory as a bonus. I would still go out and draft/acquire a pass rushing DE. If Gregory does get his act together, even better. We'll hopefully have a good idea about Smith before the 2017 draft. But I agree, adding a player of his caliber should solidify the LB position. He and Lee will probably never come off the field.

Not saying they are easy, but two of his deflections Sunday looked like passes he could have potentially gotten two hands on. It's not the 1st time I've noticed it either.
The 4th down pass breakup should have been knocked down. Otherwise we loose field position..

I would love to see some of those athletic breakups turn into athletic INTs. It almost looks like he's going for the breakup instead. Like going for an INT isn't even on his mind.

Agreed, but on the 4th down pass breakup we were better off with field position if he batted it away.

Edit:...Looks like someone beat me to that punch...lol

I like him, but he's still learning and still has some issues with instincts. He's a 'Jimmy' type of player that has such great speed and explosiveness that it can make up for when he gets fooled. However, the improvement of the safeties and corners has been enormous with Jackson coaching the safeties and Baker coaching the corners. I've been very impressed with Wilcox's development more than just about anybody. With that, I think Byron can become extremely good, but I would not be surprised to see him have some rough outings in-between.

Of course he did. He had a "what's wrong with Aaron Rodgers" media agenda to push. So he pretended that the WR beat Jones a few times so he could show everyone how Aaron Rodgers didn't throw a perfect pass.

The time in the end zone was the only time Jones made a bad read and could have given up a catch.
They don't show all (or any) of the times that Rodgers couldn't throw it towards jones because Jones blanketed his man. When Rodgers was standing in the pocket for 8 seconds why do you think he hadn't thrown it sooner? Not because Rodgers is bad..,,but because the coverage was that good.

Announcers love to say a DB was beat on deep ball overthrows just because the WR was closer to the ball as it sailed over his head,,,, despite the fact that the DB was right on the WR's hip. Horse Droppings! Many times only a perfect high-arcing throw would have connected, otherwise the DB reaches up and knocks it away.

when I see a Cowboys DB keep pace with a receiver, look back and find the ball, and then bat it away I just about pass out every time

Aikman on the telecast claimed that pass was underthrown from Rodgers. Had it been dropped over the receiver's head, it would have been a TD. Idk how true this is - just saying.

He's a troll, Proof. @Scandri100 and @Gabe are bff's

Ah makes sense. It's getting difficult because there are so many baffling opinions on the site.

This is as optimistic as I've been about this team in ages (current success along with bright future) and it baffles me that there's such a divided fan base.

National media, opposing fan bases, casual fans, everyone is praising the team and it's outlook and yet so many here have to look at the negatives. It's crazy.

All the guys people want to discredit or to shipoff or are disappointed in have a role in some capacity, let's just be happy we're winning, have depth, have guts coming back who have histories of contributing and a bright future one way or another

Quietly he's becoming a star of this season. I absolutely love this kid and everything that he brings. We are really hitting big on a lot of our draft picks of late.

Solid player for the end of round 1, but I sure would love to see him start ball-hawking like the honey badger, Thomas, and Berry

Jones is getting better very fast. Will be one of the best FS in the league soon if he keeps it up.

Big jump from last year. Really, a big jump from game 1 this year.

Focusing on one position really helps.

I don't know if he's been entirely focused on safety. I think he played some CB after Mo went down last week.

The media would rather burn Rogers on a stake than give the Cowboys any kind of credit for winning the game.

Chuck, while having a ball-hawk safety of the Sean Taylor ilk (rest in peace to his beautiful, gorgeous soul) would be great, not being a ball-hawk doesn't make him elite. Blanket coverage, elite vision (range and reads), speed to close on the ball (and carrier/rusher), tackling -- are also parameters that will make him elite. He isn't elite yet, but he's flashing all of those attributes more often than not. He's on his way there.

I agree, a ball-hawking, range'y safety would be amazing, but they only tend to come around every 4-5 years.

Tyrann Mathieu's don't grow on trees, my brudda. Earl Thomas was the best before this stud/phenom (Tyrann) came around.

Sean Taylor destroys both of them, but I digress :) Again, RIP to your lovely soul, Sean.
