Byron Jones looks like an All Pro

Nope…most people (read: me) said he was a bad safety. Can't believe it took this awesome staff to see what a lot of us saw in no time.

He's still one of the least physical NFL players I've ever seen, but fortunately, he doesn't have to tackle all that much.

He was a good FS and poor SS. Played well at safety next to Church, really hurt his game playing next to Heath last year.

ppl said he was a bad player

He wasn't a bad player even at safety. Some fans got on that bus just because he was moved to strong safety last year and wasn't very good at run defense for that position.

Now, he's a better corner because the position allows him to be more hands-on and use his size and speed better, like he was able to do when matched up and holding his own with some of the better tight ends in the league.

The narrative on Jones has just been wrong from the start because some thought he had to be among the best safeties in the league to justify the pick. He was good, but not great. At corner, he's been pretty great so far.

Opposite. He played free safety in 2016 and helped us have a very solid secondary. He started out playing FS last year with Heath taking over for Church at SS. Heath proved to be a liability against the run at SS, so Dallas flopped the two safeties. Heath made some interceptions at FS while Jones had his own struggles at SS, which led to Frazier being inserted primarily on run downs.

They actually did throw his way on one pass and it was complete.
Not sure if he was responsible or the safety though.
I think he came off of his guy when he recognized where they were going. At least, that's what it looked like to me and my untrained eyes.

I couldn't tell if Byron looked that good or if they kept picking on Chido by design. Chido was in great coverage all game, but unlike our squad, those Detroit receivers have great hands and ball awareness.

I had already ccorrected my error up top.

And? I said he's been a great CB this season.
"He's one of the least physical players I've seen, luckily he doesnt have to tackles much"

He's 4th on the team in tackles.

Was 2nd in tackles in 2016, behind only Lee too.

He still isn't very physical at the point of attack, and still takes bad angles. Thankfully his position change has catered more to his strengths and has limited his weaknesses.

Lighten up, Francis.

Making tackles and being physical are two different things.

Most of the time, he gently lays down the ballcarrier like a baby into a crib or rides him like he's on a pony ride at the zoo, but again, I love him at CB.

Exactly! He was a crummy safety and a bust of a first round pick there. As a CB, he’s been very good and I’m sad it took our staff years to realize it although I’m also not surprised since they are idiots.

Yep. People are happy to pick on Chido
if it takes a perfect pass to throw the ball then good on the offense for executing. Great QBs (at least on that day) and good receivers will win that every time.

He needs to split some of his contract he's going to get soon without Richard. Dude is going to make him a lot of money!!!
