Byron Jones next contract, how much?

The ones I'd want to sign are Dak, Dlaw, Byron, Jaylon, Antwaun & Maher. Closely followed with La'el & Maliek Collins, Randy Gregory, Anthony Brown, Kavon Frazier, Heath & Lee.

I don't see the FO agreeing with me, though.

Tank is the only one we have to deal with now
But it’s gonna be some tough ones
I suspect jones and Jaylon are signed when their time comes
Zeke has a 5th year option and I think it’s likely he’s tagged a year and then let walk
Dak I think the jury is still out, as of now I haven’t seen enough to make a starter type offer

Highly sensitive issues here.......time is running out. This time next year you're facing a decision of, tag, signing or letting him walk. What's makes this decision even more critical if front off choose not draft or sign a possible in 2019.

You left off quite a few names of 2020 free agents......Damn will not be a cakewalk for FO

Jaylon Smith, Byron Jones, Lael Collins, Antwaun Woods are the only players that I want back.

If the others don't sign a friendly deal or can't be afforded, let them walk in free agency.

I'd give him the vet minimum, plus 7 million for every interception. That way if he actually snags 2, he'll get paid pretty well.

But we all know, he'd make the vet minimum :p

Pretty much my thoughts but I think they let La'el walk. Just simply too much invested in OL already. Didn't matter too much before coz never had these many ascending players but now we have to spread the cap a bit more.

I'd say the same about my 2nd tier group, but not exactly charity deals across the board.

This is why you don't BS around when you have cheap contracts on rookie years. You have to be seriously aggressive filling in needs via free agency, otherwise, you'll lose most of your drafts (due to contracts) and will have to start over.

It’s the toughest decision they got and most important one
At this point I’m not convinced he is the answer and I hate that. Hitting on a QB at any spot is hard and even if you have a top pick the options are not always the greatest
But as a team it’s the most important decision you make

I really dont care , hes not getting top 10 money thats for sure not for one season at CB and 3-4 very sub par ones at S..i say for all these guys the Cowboys need to stop bidding against themselves, let the players go test the market, the market and any offers he receives will set his worth..they tend to just over offer players huge contracts after one good season and never see what they are really worth..they are getting better at it and for me Dlaw and DI are more important for the bigger money, BJ will be in the 10-15 CB money..

This will be tricky.......the rankings say he's the best but are we seeing a truly elite/shutdown impact.

he is not in those listed league, YET... id offer him 4 at maybe 10-11per and move on if he overvalues himself.. incentives for more of he makes PB, leads league in INTS etc etc

Ouch! I smell another prove it deal...

Unfortunately his agent wont follow that logic. In his defense our coaches should have identified him as a CB sooner. Thats said, I think he will likely get franchised and be forced to do it again.

Its a smart move, except in Dlaws case I think his price will ultimately prove more costly after this season.

- Can we say out loud that Dallas completely misused this Man and mostly wasted his talents for 2 years?
- this Man is looking to be as close to a "shut down" CB as Dallas has had since Deion. I'm NOT saying he's Deion, he's just looking like the best CB since (better than Newman)
- Jones may be able to get what he wants elsewhere... question is, can Dallas match?

Cowboys have some tough calls. In the next year or 2, we have to make decisions on Dak, Zeke, DLaw, Jaylon, and now Byron. We can't afford to keep all of them at market rate contracts. I know which one Risen Star is showing the door. lol

Jaylon only has 1 accrued season. He'll still be RFA in 2020. No rush there.

Not popular, but DLaw has too much injury history for me to want to resign him. I don't trust his health, and his production, to hold up long term. Or even this season. Last season, only 4 sacks in the second half of the season. And we have pretty good alternatives at DE besides.

Byron - I don't see him as an elite CB. 2 career INTs. None so far this season. He's started half of his rookie season, and been a starter since. I've warmed to him, but only if the contract reflects his not elite status. I generally don't like spending big money on corners.

The real interesting guy short term is Irving. Jerry does like getting himself a deal.

Nowhere near the ball skills of Deion.

As for misusing him, much of that is scheme fit. Byron is a much better scheme fit for Richard than Marinelli.

We changed the scheme and the position for Byron. He's a mediocre safety but apparently a heck of a CB. He's PFF's top rated CB by a wide margin, and I haven't been a fan of his since the day we drafted him.

top corners are a rarity in the nfl. we finally have one. can't let him get away.

Jones still has his 5th yr option in 2019. Let him do it again and then aybe find a way to get ints. If he cant get turnovers then that will lower his value.

Byron won't come cheaply but if he maintains his play at its current pace, he'll likely be well worth the contract that's agreed upon.

I thought we changed it for Richard. Maybe a little of both.
