I'd have our CBs as:

Carr
Jones
Claiborne
Patmon

With White at FS. I don't think this will happen though. I think we'll get another year of Church and Wilcox.

I feel more comfortable with White as our slot corner and if in the long haul they believe Jones is our future free safety I see no reason why he shouldn't start getting reps their this season.

I see no reason to consider either Jones or White at the safety position. How much has either even played the safety position?

Carr
Claiborne
Jones
White
Patmon

There's only about 5 or 6 top tier safeties in the league. Good luck finding one lol. Its about as hard as finding a franchise quarterback.

We're not that far removed from the days when safeties were a dime a dozen. Granted, the Cowboys never have been able to find one of those dimes.

Exactly, sometimes changing someone's position might actually benefit them.

There's no reason to change his position when the coaches like Wilcox and Church. Jones is looking to be impressive at CB, I don't understand the point of taking him out of that position we drafted him for and moving him to safety.

People take the "He can play CB and Safety" a little too far. Yes, he has the skillset to play both positions, but that doesn't mean he'll excel in both or be pro-bowl level. It's the same with Collins and the Guard and Tackle discussion.

I trust our coaching staff can at least evaluate well enough to know what position he is suited for more. Right now, it seems CB. Actually, I think he's going to play really damn well as the nickel corner this year.

I was talking about White, the draft profile on him said he'd make for a better safety than corner.

I'll just let the coaches decide. But I think Jones will still rotate between safety and corner.

There is only about 5 or 6 top tier players at most positions, that is why they are top tier.

A serviceable FS would be better than Wilcox, but I'm hesitant to put a corner who is merely bigger than average out there. Our run D is already looking suspect enough as it is, and I don't know if I like Jones or White being the last line of defense against a Lynch, Morris, or Murray.

Jones played Safety for 2 years in college and has practiced at both Safety and CB in training camp. He even played some Safety later in the 1st PS game.

White played Safety for about 2 years in the NFL.

I'd say Carr and Claiborne are the #1 and #2 and Jones is the 3rd, but works his way in more as the season progresses.

I think it will depend on the play of Claiborne. If Claiborne can't start, I believe Jones will. No matter who starts, though, I think Dallas plans to do a lot of coverage mixing by moving White and Jones around in the secondary. So we might see both on outside receivers on one play or both back deep at safety on another or one in the slot and another deep.
