I think he’s been solid on coverage. Even the td he gave up he was in tight coverage.

I have however seen teams attacking his side a bit more lately. Don’t get me wrong I think he’s still a very solid player.

but if the focus will be on keeping the pass rush... if we let Byron go I’d like to see us with more ballhawking type corners out there

I'm not sure what you've been looking at for his entire career. He's a "stay close to the WR and hope the QB doesn't throw" kinda player. Any actual football contact outside of that he avoids. Not even knocking the guy... he's gonna get a max contract for what he's good at, but you can throw at him safe, with no risk of a turnover, and run at him safer. If the balls coming is way he's gonna curl up and pray for a rodeo tackle.

As bad has his engagement was yesterday, he looked like Polamalu compared to Woods out there.

When will people learn that all this so called "tight coverage" is getting us no where because he has absolutely no clue where the ball is or what the other team is trying to do. I thought this guy was supposed to be smart. It appears as though no one on this defense (except Lee) watches any tape or prepares for these games in any way.

I know the defense has regressed in a major way.

I thought I saw him pull up early on a tackle in the 4th quarter. Can't say I blame him much, most media reports suggest Jerry won't give him his market value, so why risk injury for this outfit?
