During the playoffs Byron mentioned he will be a starter somewhere next year, so odds of him coming to Big D, very slim.

no way to Leftwich... he could not help our offense if Romo went down. He's slower than molasses.

He would be an upgrade over Brad and if I remember right he played for Big Ben a little bit this year in a win for the Steelers. So he'd certainly be better than what we've got.

Anyone would be an upgrade to Brad. Lefty would be a good choice my only concern is his slow release and that's not the most mobile QB. That said I'd be surprised if he left Pitt.

That's why I wouldn't be for him. At very least we need a QB with a fast release and with some mobility. We need someone who resembles Romo in those two attributes. Our biggest problem on offense is when we have to stop and totally re-gear which a QB unlike Romo would make us do.

We had to totally re-gear with Brad, and our offense got stuck, grinding, in first gear for the rest of the season. Even after Romo returned we could never pop it back into 5th.

If he's gonna be a back-up, why not stay in Pittsburgh? Weather he's here or there, he has no real shot of unseating the starter, only has to hope for injury. I think he'll go some where like Minnesota where he can play.

LEFTWICH IN DEMAND?
Posted by Mike Florio on February 4, 2009, 1:25 p.m.

Another item that caught our eye as we continue to work through the four-hour Super Bowl pregame show on ESPN relates to Steelers backup quarterback Byron Leftwich.

Per Chris Mortensen, Leftwich’s spot duty with the Steelers might have resurrected his career.

Mort speculates that up to a third of the league will be interested in talking to Leftwich about becoming or competing for the starting job.

He signed a one-year deal with the Steelers after Charlie Batch broke a collarbone during the preseason, so Leftwich will be an unrestricted free agent as of February 27.

That said, the one-time first-rounder of the Jaguars still has a catapult-slow delivery, and he has compensated for it of late by making lightning-fast decisions regarding where the ball will go.

That said, there are plenty of bad quarterbacks in the league. So there should be plenty of teams interested in bringing Leftwich aboard.

Not exactly. When he came in for Ben that game, he did wait for receivers to get open and read the field.

Unlike us though, they may have altered their routes to accommodate the (then) shaky blocking and Leftwich's delivery.

We still have T.O. running 30 yard routes with Brad back there.

In his mind, he's a starter, and after his play in Pitt last season, he'll probably get a sniff at starting again so I cannot see him entertaining the idea of backing up #9. As far as his attitude, it's not as bad as he's been made out to be. He and JDR didn't exactly have the best relationship so his press coming out of JAX was a bit skewed, IMO. Give him a good o-line and he'll be a more than adequate QB in this league.
