Byron Leftwich may be on the block, good backup in Dallas or not?

The Charlotte Observer believes Byron Leftwich won't be able to "patch things up" with the Jaguars when the sides meet this offseason.

It's worth noting that new Jags offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter chose a young, mobile Rudy Carpenter ogodver big-armed senior Sam Keller while coaching at Arizona State in 2006. The decision didn't pan out well. At this point, it's likely the Jags will decide between Leftwich and David Garrard to start with Quinn Gray working as the backup in 2007.

If I am Oakland, I sign him and draft Calvin Johnson.

Thats what I was about to say. Even trade down if your Oakland.

If I was Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, and a lot of other teams i'd sign him too.

Hes proven he can play in this league and as hard as it is to even find a QB of his caliber I cant believe the Jaguars are stupid enough to even want to get rid of him.

isn't lefty still under contract?
Not if the Jags cut him loose. Which it sounds like they may do. If they trade him, Oakland should try it. They need QB help, he needs a new scene. It fits.

I really don't see him being a back up. Like smarta5150 said, he'll want to start somewhere and I really see no reason why he shouldn't expect that from a team.

Especially since Garrard didn't exactly light it up.

If I wanted an immobile QB who makes bad decisions, I would bring back Drew Bledsoe.

You talk about an expensive backup........Someone will grab him as a starter.

Personally I dont think Jamarcus Russell will ever be the QB Byron Leftwich is and if im Oakland and I dont think Brady Quinn is going to be really good then I pass on Russell on go get Leftwich.

Can you say Bledsoe. Why do you want him?

You act like Bledsoe is just an awfull Quarterback. If you protect Bledsoe he will beat you with his arm. He takes forever to make decisions but he can make any throw possible.

In fact if the Bears had Bledsoe they just might be Superbowl Champions today.

Didnt say that, but to pay Leftwich you might talk to Bledssoe and pay him to be a back up.

If he came here he'd start, and our backup would back him up. I don't see it happening.

I think he's proven he is average...he isnt good, he isnt even above average...he is average

thats why they might be inclined to give up on him and get whatever they can via a trade
