Yes, a 300 lb man needs to knock a 120 lb woman unconscious to defend himself.

So lets get this straight. You believe it's okay for a 120lbs woman to pick a fight with a Mack Truck? The guy was in the wrong, but that woman was a DAMN FOOL to strike him in the first place.

Tell me something. It's 1988 and you get in the ring with Mike Tyson. You believe because you're not a trained boxer nor Mike's size, that he shouldn't hit you back if you hit him? Yeah, say goodnight.

My point is. If you're going to perform an act of violence on someone, you had better ****ing expect it to be reciprocated right back at you. The woman was an idiot to think otherwise. That was a risk she took and she lost. I bet she doesn't make that mistake again. Violence is violence, no matter who it is or how big they are.

The attorney for Florida DT Caleb Brantley, who is facing a misdemeanor charge for allegedly knocking a woman unconscious, tells Jason Cole of B/R that his client was approached about a financial settlement on Tuesday.
  • However, Brantley declined the offer and has no plans to settle with his accuser, even though the NFL draft is just a few days away, according to Cole.
  • Cole reports that the bar owner said that the alleged victim “repeatedly” hit Brantley in the chest and arms and a security guard added that she punched him in the mouth.
  • The security guard who witnessed the incident told Cole that the alleged victim was never unconscious and Brantley pushed her away but did not punch her.

It's a sensitive topic. I get it. Please don't make me give anybody the Brantley treatment over a heated exchange so close to draft day. Let's all just share polite opinions and walk away with all our teeth. Thanks.

No, no, no,,,, matches and accelerant, that's what this thread needs! All the posturing and feigned outrage needs to be paraded around for all to see. ;)

I've always had the view that you shouldn't hit someone unless you're "man" enough to accept getting hit back. Otherwise, you should just walk away.

Everyone one has the right to defend themselves against violence.

Yup if he would have done that to a man then no one would have cared.

Equal rights should mean equal rights and I have zero respect for a woman that slaps and punches with the expectation that they can hide behind society's prejudices.

If I was 120 lb weakling, then yeah, Mike should push me off and walk away rather than swing like he's trying to win another belt.

There's no reason to respond to a flyswatter with a nuke unless you're a sociopath.

It really is a double standard, though I'm sure if Ronda Rousey decided to pummel me maybe she'd get charged.....

That said we simply don't know the circumstances. I find it unlikely Brantley felt threatened enough to retaliate with that type of force, but I really don't know. He likely just lost his temper after being struck and, unfortunately, one blow from this guy can cause significant damage. We just don't know the circumstances, but I would imagine NFL teams are getting to the bottom of it. If Brantley goes early 2nd then some team doesn't think he's troubled...possibly wrong place, wrong time. If he drops to the 4th/5th round range then we can likely assume the kid has a problem that could be recurring....
i guess i'd ask what you said to her to make that happen. but this is more situational than anything so running to an extreme to try and normalize bad behavior, well, we as a society needs to quit doing that.

you know he shouldn't have done it. you know she's not rousey. next.
