Caleb Downs contract details

This is a bargain. Wonder what the 5th year option will be. Or will that be determined during his 4th year.
This is from Over the Cap

Fifth-Year Option Salary Structure
The salary is determined by performance tiers calculated based on salary cap trends, ranging from top-tier Pro Bowlers to basic playing time criteria:
ESPN +3
  • Tier 1 (Multiple Pro Bowls): Salary equals the position-specific franchise tag.
  • Tier 2 (One Pro Bowl): Salary equals the transition tender (average of top 10 salaries).
  • Tier 3 (Playtime Metric): Average of the 3rd-20th highest salaries.
  • Tier 4 (Basic): Average of the 3rd-25th highest salaries.

It’s not enough. Pay him more. Just do it.

I’d actually give him a small percentage of the franchise but that could be just me.

We could get away with playing with ten if we had to.
