So the defense is anticipating making the other team punt this year? I like this strategy.

Turpin doesn't need to move over at all. He is the return player.

It's VERY unlikely we see Downs as a returner this year unless Turpin gets hurt.

Definitely have to have backup options. I think Blue is probably the backup kick returner, but not sure who would be the punt returner. Foxsports stats shows the only other player to return punts for us last year was Jalen Moreno-Cropper, with three.

Deion was one of the most electric and dangerous return men in the history of the NFL.

Not using him in this regard because you are scared of an injury removes one of the biggest scoring threats the team had and thus weakens them.

They only plan to use him occasionally. Just like they did at Ohio State and Alabama.

So if Downs is as good as expected on defense but gets a season ending injury, or worse, from returning the ball which in turn weakens our defense and allows the other team to score more points then you’re telling me you’ll think it was worth it to have him return the ball, no matter how good he is?

Sorry, not buying it. I don’t care about highlights or the TD’s Deion got as a returner, he was much more valuable to our defense. Returning is one of the most dangerous areas of the game, the team would have been much weaker with his absence as a defender then it would have been with his absence as a returner.

No worries man, I see both sides of the argument, I would just be furious if one of our top draft picks or free agents got hurt returning a damn ball but nonetheless, Deion was definitely a blast to watch when he did have the ball in his hands.

Turpin is an All-Pro return man and three-time Pro Bowler who only has a small role on offense. Downs will be a centerpiece on defense. Got to have a backup just in case, though.

One of those young receivers could force the team to carry six if they played well and the would volunteer for return duty

I don't see him being the starting returner because he will be tired coming off defensive drives on punt returns.

My guess is it will be Turpin as the starter and the Cowboys are looking for backups for when (not if) Turpin gets dinged and he might fill that role.

Most teams focus on sure-handed backups for punt returners so that's why you see a lot of defensive backs get that role.

Nah he wont be tired.

He will force the offense to punt on second downs.

The guy is the GOAT better than Reed and Matt Johnson already. They also changed the rule for him to be elgible for the HOF and shipped him his jacket. Google it, there are pics of him around the web.


My sources also tell me he will play #2 WR full time too. We already picked up talks trading Pickens to the Eagles.
