Sorry, not buying it. I don’t care about highlights or the TD’s Deion got as a returner, he was much more valuable to our defense. Returning is one of the most dangerous areas of the game, the team would have been much weaker with his absence as a defender then it would have been with his absence as a returner.

Dude, we’re talking about 5-6 returns.

If he gets hurt during them, then that is a freak occurrence. He’ll be 10 times more likely to suffer a season ending injury starting on defense.

You never know, they may find out in these practices that he’s not even suited to return punts.

Nah. Show me what fumbles since Blue became a Dallas Cowboy. I only have found 1. Are there more that need to be shown in order to correctly call him a fumbler or having issues with fumbling the football while wearing the Star on his helmet?

He only fumbled once last year in 39 carries but you can’t just ignore he had a lot of fumbles in college. It’s not like it’s 5 years later and he’s had a ton of touches without a fumble. In college he fumbled once per 27 or so touches. That’s a very high fumble ratio

Ok, and if that “freak” occurrence happens and he misses a few games or worse, I don’t want to hear a single complaint of how stupid it was to put him in that position. I hope to hell I’m not the guy who said “told ya so”.

Agreed, but obviously he has improved on committing fumbles. Let's give credit so far where it is due.

It's VERY unlikely we see Downs as a returner this year unless Turpin gets hurt.

I wouldn't put him back there period, too valuable to be getting cute with all these positions,,, even if he was a superstar punt returner , which he is not. He should be focusing on CB/Safety.

I like blue. He’s one of the best RB’s I’ve seen running routes. He runs pass routes like a WR. He has some serious juice in the run game and woukd be a perfect 2 behind our pounder. He wasn’t on the field in camp as a return guy because he fumbled so many in college, he dropped in draft because of fumbles. If he fixes the fumbles he can be a weapon. But he’s gonna have to prove he can hang onto the ball. Right now I’d just let him keep working at RB because he wasn’t ask to block in college so he needs work on that and it gives him a chance to prove he can hold onto the ball. The talent is there, the speed is there and I think that’s why they are just letting him work at RB. Let him get the reps to prove himself at RB and maybe then let him do some returns. His real value is st RB and if he can hold onto the ball he can be a serious weapon

I think it’s more about looking for options if there was an injury to Turpin, not him being the return guy

  1. If you don’t have a great punt returner, the least he can do is just make a fair catch so you can preserve some field position.
  2. If you want to protect a very valuable player while using him as a punt returner, have him make a lot of fair catches to avoid getting hit as much.

Let us hope, ruffian, tha Turpin returns the ball even 10 yards. Then Dak builds his stats with piffy 5 yard-throws to the sidelines and maybe a run then, BOOM an Aubrey field goal.
Rinse. Repeat.
I am OK with field goals. Anything to win.

Deion was a hall of fame CB. Dante Hall and Devin Hester didn’t bring anything else to the table besides their return skills. Not a great comparison.
