So somewhere along the way, the rules just changed and I missed the big announcement. We have all seen it now where a play happens and there appears to be some question, a team about to challenge and then all of the sudden someone in NY calls down and tells the ref what the real result of the play is. Ball is spotted accordingly and then they move on. This is now being done to help keep the game moving.
So when is it appropriate for NY to call down? What kind of plays are they allowed to call down for? I pay pretty close attention to most things NFL and I dont remember seeing or hearing anything on this subject.
The problem with this is when they call down seems so subjective. It certainly leads into conspiracy theories. Could NY have called down yesterday to say that was a fumble? If they could have, why didnt they?
Honestly, I dont like it. It seems to me to give "Unofficial," challenges to one team.
