Call it now - Does Henson get #2 work on Thursday?

Doesn't really matter.

Romo is #2 to start season. Its all over Hensonites. The smart one's are falling back on next spin or excuse on how Henson got beat out by a small, noodle armed undrafted golfer.

I predict Henson goes #2 and Romo finishes game. Bledsoe out after 1st. We are now gearing up for San Diego. The battle is over at #2. If Henson was in it he'd have played. He is dying for experience. Game experience Parcells gave to Romo to get him ready for season.

LOL!!!

I'm going to start calling you bad penny. You've managed to show up again.

No matter. I would not be surprised to see Parcells do this but if it were me, I probably wouldn't. I don't believe there's much difference in the two, at this point, but I do believe Romo has done enough to win the job. If it were me, I would get Romo as much playing time as I could. I would make the decision and start getting Henson ready for next seasons compatition. #3 is probably the better situation for him anyway. He will get more snaps running the scout team and the more repititions, the better for him.

I would move on to more important needs and get ready to play the season.

probably announce Romo today as backup

Possibly but not a certainty. I would have thought you would have had enough of trying to predict time tables by now.

Parcells called me this morning and said Bledsoe will get a series or two, Romo will play 3-4 series, and Henson will play the remainder of the game.

:)

I honestly think it had nothing to do with Henson.

Romo only got 8 attempts himself. He didn't play all that long.

Whether or not Henson gets playing time depends on if parcells will make game 4 a dress rehersal, as it isn't recommended.

If it's a normal 4th preseason game, Henson will get nearly one half, and he likely will be the number 2 quarterback.

Romo will by default probably get some significant PT this year during the regular season. Henson's situation becomes more inconsequential each week. IMO, not much of this really matters and the team's long-term QB solution is not on the roster right now, as so many of us have said.

I would love to see Henson do very well........it would make Bill's decision a little tougher. It would also make the team stronger!

I agree. Henson is part of the team and why anyone would root aginst him is beyond me same with Romo. As both guys improve it makes Dallas a stronger team and that is what should matter. It is all about Team people players will come and go but the team is the main focus or at least it should be!!!

You mean for THIS game and not for the San Diego game, correct?

There's a good chance Henson gets cut tomorrow.

According to my sources...............

yea for the preseason game, if he plays exceptionally well though, It wouldn't surprise me if he is named 2nd qb.

Romo hasn't done all that much that henson hasnt. Romo has thrown 1 more pass than Henson in preseason. completed 5 more, didn't throw an interception, and connected with Morgan for the td.

But if you really look into what has been going on, Romo almost threw an interception just as Henson did. Bledsoe almost threw one too. They were simply dropped by defeneders. Henson had two significant drops on one of his drives that most likely would have resulted in a touchdown. And Parcells hasn't been allowing Henson to go long.

It was mostly in this game that Parcells really losened the reigns a little. Expect Henson to have a good game when he gets significant playing time with Witten, Campbell, and Crayton.

You better get new sources. There isn't a chance in the world that he gets cut tomorrow, and I have zero sources.

Let me follow up my last "knee jerk" reaction.

I can't say what Parcells will do, I will only say this. If they cut this kid after 2 training camps, the 2nd of which they change his throwing motion (which still makes zero sense to me), and then complain that he isn't comfortable in the pocket (as if that is all he has to worry about now...see new throwing motion), then Parcells, plain and simple, didn't like him.

I'm not a Hensonite, I'm a life long Cowboys fan, but I just don't like the way this whole situation has been handled.

How dare you bring a level headed statement into the arguement. This debate has to be full of hate and discontent. There is no room for someone with a logical point of view.

We each must choose a side and then destroy anyone on the opposite side. We are after all, discussing the back-up QB position. What could be more important than that.

It doesn't matter if both of these QB's play for the same team. One of them must be destroyed in order for the other one to succeed. We cannot have two underling QB's that could possibly have a bright future in this game. This must not happen. It is simply not an option at this point.

Btw..ABQ, looks like La Cueva is still winning.

Henson Is Not Going To Be Cut.

Nors, my man, finally we agree. Good post. :D

Henson may be the #3 guy, but at least he will get reps playing with the scout team, for what it's worth. The speculation of him being cut is absurd.

I think it's going to depend on what Parcells sees out of Bledsoe. I believe that he had every intention to play Henson in the #2 slot this past week but decided that Bledsoe needed more work. So he sacrificed the time that Henson was to have gotten for two reasons:

1) It is much more important to get the #1 guy ready to play than it is to get either of the backups ready.

2) He had already made up his mind that Romo was going to be the #2 so it was just developmental work for Henson.

It was just not that important to get Henson in the game when you consider the way Bledsoe was playing and his obvious need for more work. I really don't think it was about Henson so much as it was about Bledsoe. Now he could have given Henson Romo's reps but again I think the decision had been made already and he wanted to see Romo in the final minutes of the game scenario. Parcells decided to give the work to his top two guys as the season draws near.

Absolutely correct CA; it is absurd. Henson will be back in the mix next TC and I fully expect him to be 100% improved and putting up a more formidable challenge for the job Romo has taken this year. I look forward to a very good competition there next year.

Yes, I hope so. It's not that I personally favor Henson and don't like Romo, it's just that I do not believe Romo has the necessary physical skills to be a long-time starter in the NFL. That is just my opinion and I certainly understand others can and do have a different opinion. Henson needs a lot of work and in the long run he may be no better, in fact he may be worse, but he has some raw tools that could be developed.

I know Romo throws some nice passes at times and trys to carry himself like Brett Favre, his idol as a young QB, (ie., the little swagger, carrying out the throw fakes after handing the ball off), but, imo, he and his limitations would be seriously exposed by NFL defensive coordinators if he played for any extended time in the NFL.

After watching this pre-season, I am convinced that keeping Bledsoe healthy is crucial, even though Bledsoe doesn't look that great at times.

Jack, I will tell you this. I have hated watching QBs play in Dallas since 99. Even Aikmans last years, I hated it. I am so tired of watching a steady stream of talent void projects come through. It has been a very long span and I am very thankful to have Romo in his third year of development showing progress. I am happy to have Henson in his second year of development showing progress. I believe that one of these two will be our eventual starting QB. I look forward, as you say, to watching these two young guys go at it next year. We may actually see the light at the end of the tunnel and avoid the very painful freight train to the face syndrom that has been the custom these past few years.
