Call Up Darius Jackson?

Rod Smith offers flexibility because he can play some fullback and special teams and backup Zeke.

yes, but it would be nice to go into the playoffs wtih a third, a speedster like DJ. Rod is good for the hard short years, Zeke all around, DJ for speed.

He’s worse than Smith at RB and adds nothing on ST. And he’s safe on the PS. I don’t think we make a move there unless there’s an injury elsewhere. We’re also adding Austin back, whose got some RB to him. And we’ve got the FB who can run in a game in a pinch.

I’m wondering if we don’t see more of Gathers in the red zone finally. He’s getting in on some blocking downs now. If he can hold up in the running game, he’d be a nice addition at the goal line.

As many of us know..everybody’s favorite 6th round pick is on our practice squad and he looked pretty good in preseason.

With postseason looming...most of us agree, we need to try to limit Zeke so he’s fresh for the postseason(I still want him to play). Problem is...if we want to remain competitive, it’ll be hard to limit Zeke too much with only one other back on our roster. Also...heaven forbid, the last thing we want in a playoff game is to need a legit running back(not a FB) and not have one.

Smith was better yesterday for sure but I think most of us agree that he’s been very average for the season. Let’s see what Jackson looks like in a real game with a few carries and maybe we will get lucky and add another weapon before postseason.

It’s all a question of who to cut. I think we could cut Mike White and be able to retain him. I highly doubt anyone puts him on their active roster at this point...but maybe there is someone else? The FB we never use?
Maybe Covington

It’s quite obvious. You’re acting like we’re in the playoffs or something. We’re not. Zeke is part of the triplets just like in the 90’s. Without all 3, our offense is not. We need to win at least 1 more game. All 3 need to play all 3 remaining games. Even the last game if we have clinched by then. Maybe not the whole game, but need to keep them sharp.

You must’ve not read my post.

I said I want Zeke to play but I also think it’s a good idea to conserve Elliott once we have the seeding locked up so he’s fresh for the playoffs. There is no reason to work him the way we have once we have everything locked up(which will happen). It’ll be hard to limit his touches to make 10-15 a game with only one other back on the roster.

I think it’ll be a good idea to see what Jackson has in a real game so we can conserve Elliott some and maybe uncover a new weapon going into the postseason

You’re right, I missed that and stand corrected. We’re on the same page then and a good post on your part.

Short answer....no.
We need RSmith’s experience....not a guy playing his first significant minutes in post season

All I know is that if Elliott goes down, we are toast.

I realize Smith is a team guy and steps in, but he is not an acceptable top quality backup tailback.

I am not going to indulge idiocy and suggest that a practice squad player is insurance, but.

I have a feeling once the playoffs come around.......Zeke is going tone getting all of the snaps.

i think so, but smething also tells me not at the right times either.

SL: 1 and goal, lets throw it 3 times.

Agreed with you until Olawale. Hes better than Lenoir IMO, it's all about ST for guys who get min reps.

I think we should limit Zeke by playing Austin as a third down back in passing situations. We need a change of pace guy and Jackson is on the practice squad for a reason.

As far as smith, I have no idea what people saw in him in the first place. He’s been average from the get go.

Did you even read the OP at all? It was talking about these final few weeks before the playoffs!

I think getting Jackson in who has a similar skill set will be good to help rest zeke against a bad Bucs team and a Giants team we finish up with that’s looking to prbly make sure we take some lumps before the playoffs

Jackson is a good fit for his STs ability and speed, but as a RB Jordan Chunn is better, IMO.

Cut Lenoir. Call up a RB, it's time.

I wouldn't mind calling up another runner but how can anyone say Smith is averahe when he barely gets a chance to play? Smith needs more touches and Jackson can back him up.

Rod Smith is good at receiving but as a runner he is strictly north and south.

Was about to say the same.

He runs too upright and with little wiggle. He is a very, very poor man's version of Latavius Murray.

But: a capable receiver, and good straight line speed. We don't use him properly in the RB2 role. He'd do well as an H-Back in some full house looks.
