If Gurley was there in the 1st, I would seriously consider finding a trading partner for the pick.
Since the 27th pick is really a second round pick, adding another pick would really set the
Boys up for a nice draft haul.

You never trade a top ten talent, Brugler and others are calling him "special" which is rare.

Weaknesses
Upright runner in space
, opening himself and the ball up to big hits. l too high at pPad leveoint of collision. Mediocre power for size. Doesn't push the pile and won't run through many tackles. Pass protection lacking. Throws shoulder at pass rusher rather than squaring up and taking on with good posture. Tends to bounce and juke a little too long at the second level. Must improve ball security after fumbling 10 times over 576 career carries.

The only thing that concerns me there is the fumbling for sure. As I said, I believe he can be coached up on pass blocking. Interestingly Murray was also knocked for his upright style and lack of power on inside runs during the draft process. 3 years later he's arguably the 2nd best power back in the NFL.

I believe this staff prefers the 6' 210+ lbs versatile RB given the recent selections of Randle and Murray. Perhaps it's just coincidence. If it were up to me, I would take a very hard look at Duke Johnson. He's my favorite RB but I don't think he fits what the staff is looking for.

True enough, You have to weight how much the knee will affect him in the future in the final decision to take him.
Some backs come back strong and excel and some seem to have these issues that affect their whole
career. It's a gamble either way, but we could still get a great back and maybe an additional defensive
star which we need plenty of right now.

Actually Coleman is very much like Murray but has more power and top end speed.

Yeldon lacks true power and top end speed with the addition of pass blocking problematics!

I am not saying Dallas will take Gurley but they would be crazy not to if he drops.

I really think Gordon and Gurley may be gone, seems like teams are paying them interest as of late.

We will be fine if that were the case, we do need defense as you state and have plenty of options 2-5.

Man, I almost started a thread this morning asking people to try to guess the back Dallas will take.

I like Gordon and I love Gurley but if I had to bet right now on who the Cowboys will draft, I'd say Jay Ajayi.

1. Dallas loves Boise State players.

2. I think Dallas wants someone who can wear defenses down... (that is Ajayi)

3. ...but they still want some wiggle and not just a big bruiser. (that also is Ajayi)

4. DeMarcus Lawrence can vouch for his character and he is the type of person Dallas prefers.

5. He is from the Dallas area.

6. He probably can be had at our second round pick, which I think Dallas would prefer.

Just a hunch right now.

Ajayi is nice, and I wouldn't be upset if we took him, but he tries to bounce it outside too much for my liking, which never works in the NFL (see reggie Bush).

Gordon is the same way, loves to bounce it outside every chance he gets.

I like both Ajayi and David Johnson for us.

Yeldon is gag, about the last RB I'd take in this draft.
Gurley, Coleman, Cobb, or Ajay

I think it will be Coleman. I see San Diego and Arizona going Gurley/Gordon ahead of us.

You know what I forgot about T.J. Yeldon, for some reason I did not release he was coming out, and he did gain too much weight, just like Trent Richardson did when he got to the Browns

I'll stick with the guy I've been touting for quite a while now...Tevin Coleman.

- #1 in the nation with 10 TD runs of 25+ yards

- #4 in the nation with an average of 3.2 yards gained after contact

He played on a mediocre team that lost it's starting QB. Sudfeld (who is decent), was replaced by a Freshman who started 6 games...completing just 48.5% of his passes for 515 yards & throwing 1 TD vs. 4 Int's. IU's OL wasn't great.

Former Bears director of college scouting Doug Gabriel (among those who pushed for them to draft Matt Forte), feels Coleman is the best back in a talented class:
"My thinking is that if Coleman played behind the Wisconsin line he may have run for over 2500 yards. As it was, he ran for 2036 yards, a 7.5 average per carry, 15 touchdowns and 25 receptions," Gabriel wrote. "Coleman has a complete game. He can run with power between the tackles, is creative, and consistently gets yards after contact. He has the speed to turn the corner and is elusive in the open field. As a receiver, he is very reliable, runs good routes and has very good hands. Add to that the fact that he can already pass protect and is a dangerous kickoff returner."

There are several backs that I like & could live with in this draft...but Coleman remains my favorite.

Anyone who doubts should just go watch some film on this guy. He seems like a perfect fit for the Cowboys
running style. I think we'd have a shot to draft him in the second and I really hope the Cowboys bring him
in as one of their 30 visits.

Im sure they will. There combine interviews had all the top HB's, im sure most of them will make it to Valley Ranch.

I don't think Coleman or Ajayi will last to our second, i think both are early to mid 2nd round guys. I think they are god trade down options
