True enough, You have to weight how much the knee will affect him in the future in the final decision to take him.
Some backs come back strong and excel and some seem to have these issues that affect their whole
career. It's a gamble either way, but we could still get a great back and maybe an additional defensive
star which we need plenty of right now.

I think they should know well before the draft. Ive heard alot of people think he will be ready by TC

Definitely don't see what all these folks see in Ajayi. Not impressed with Gurley or Coleman either. Ameer Abdullah is getting quite underrated and could be a steal in the 2nd/3rd. Only question about him is how much tread is left on the tire. Like Duke Johnson (a lot), Gordon, and maybe Yeldon (although the latter is bit too big & tall, imo). David Johnson is 'special' but maybe not as a full load rb. All things considered, I think Abdullah is the most NFL ready and with complete game.

Abdullah has huge ball security issues

Abdullah has some great traits but pales in comparison to Gordon, Gurley and Coleman. Everyone has a right to preference but I feel we can get a more complete back in other players.

Abdullah:

Weaknesses
Lacks ideal size that teams look for from a three-down running back. Frame is close to maxed out. Doesn't always go through his pass routes at full speed. Smallish frame causes some issues in pass protection. Tenacity in protection needs to improve. Ball security is a legitimate concern with 13 fumbles over his four years at Nebraska.

I was unaware of the ball security issues- definitely worth mentioning/considering. He has had a lot of touches though so fumbles numbers are higher as well. Teams may look for a different size, but I personally think 5'9" 205 is perfecto. No need to 'max out' anymore- most rbs slow down a lot as a result of poor decision to bulk up in the pros.

I like him but I just think he lacks the size, power and security issues when there are better options but I will grant you the kid has some skills.

Gurley is projected to be ready by game one, they will know by April 18 how the medical is looking.

I have no worries with Gurley and injuries, he is a top ten talent, rare combo of size and speed.

In that case, I think he'll be long gone by #27.

if he can fumble at critical times sign me up for Murray 2.0

R1 - can't pass on Todd Gurley at #27. I could with Melvin Gordon
R2 - don't want Amer Adullah, nor J-Train. T.Coleman looks mike a smaller DeMarco and David Johnson has some OJ Simpson in him. I like both Coleman and Johnson in R2.
I can't decide on Duke Johnson. Looks like Felix Jones, but with an MBII attitude, so I think Duke Johnson is a hit, not a home run.
R3 - Really like J. Langford and TJ Yeldon.
R4 - Mike Davis is just a solid "what's left pick". I really really Buck Allen, USC and CAP-Cameron Artis-Payne. CAP has some Emmit Smith to him.
R5 -Terrence McGee, LSU
R6 - Malcom Agnew
R7 - Josh Robinson - Tiny Nate Newhouse #2
U - John Crocket, NDSU

With McFadden on board in 2015 - I'd hope with optimism that RB is devalued on draft day and wait to Rd's 3-4 and hope for David Johnson, Coleman, Langford, Yeldon are solid picks. Buck Allen or CAP-works.

Go study!

I actually liked Coleman quite a bit around December. That was when all I had seen was a few youtube highlights. After watching the available games on draftbreakdown I backed off him quite a bit.

Did you mean Coleman is more powerfull coming out of college than Murray was when he came out of college? Or that Coleman is more powerfull today than Demarco Murray is, today?

I feel like both are wrong, but the latter is scary wrong

Coleman is considered a violent runner, power with top end speed. Yes, Coleman has a similar look to Murray but has more power and speed coming out of college.

Your feelings do not matter to me, Coleman is very similar to Murray but has other traits Murray does not which makes him attractive.

Murray developed in the pros and Coleman will get his chance on the next level to do the same, none of this really matters at this point.

Man, I almost started a thread this morning asking people to try to guess the back Dallas will take.

I like Gordon and I love Gurley but if I had to bet right now on who the Cowboys will draft, I'd say Jay Ajayi.

1. Dallas loves Boise State players.

2. I think Dallas wants someone who can wear defenses down... (that is Ajayi)

3. ...but they still want some wiggle and not just a big bruiser. (that also is Ajayi)

4. DeMarcus Lawrence can vouch for his character and he is the type of person Dallas prefers.

5. He is from the Dallas area.

6. He probably can be had at our second round pick, which I think Dallas would prefer.

Just a hunch right now.

Honest question, though. I understand your point and I'm not saying your wrong, but watch Ajayi and then watch Joseph Randle. Is it me or do they seem like pretty much the same runningback?

I don't have time to look right now, but I will pay attention to that next time I watch Ajayi and see if I see what you do. If I had to answer now, I'd say I don't see it but I haven't been looking specifically for that.

I'm torn on Coleman. He's got elite power & speed but I haven't seen a lot of elusiveness or ability to fit in small spaces along the line. Those that have seen more of him can better speak to these thing, and with his power being slippery may not matter.

Basically if the FO is right about bringing in a guy like McFadden to run in this offense (and the FO has been doing great lately) then Coleman is the best choice. To me those two look almost identical. However, McFadden's career so far isn't a confidence builder.

My guess on who will be taking RB's in the 1st round are the Panthers and Lions.

I think San Diego goes RB and AZ might. Carolina needs a tacle bad so I can see them waiting unless Gurley falls to them.
