I was reading a JJT article about Garrett and Marinelli resigning with Dallas and he makes mention that Callahan is going to sign a multi-year deal to stay in Dallas.

Here is the quote:

Garrett has surrounded himself with assistant coaches he trusts, such as defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, who signed a three-year deal on Tuesday, a league source confirmed to ESPN's Adam Caplan, and offensive coordinator Bill Callahan, who's expected to sign a multiyear deal with the Cowboys.

Has anyone else heard or read anything about that? Perhaps he meant to write Linehan but I don't think so because Callahan is officially the O Coordinator, not Linehan.

Getting Callahan back coaching the OL would be a very good thing.

I think it was a reference to Linehan, not Callahan.

The lack of verifiable information on Callahan is strange.

Last I saw was that the Cowboys were close with Linehan and should be done this morning (Wednesday) and that Callahan was acceptable to a 3 yr deal also.

If so that would be amazing.

I would be shocked with Callahan remaining. I hope he does but if there was one coach I figured would leave it was Callahan

Where did you see that?

That was my thinking also. But I also heard that the team was thinking of bringing in Callahan's son from Denver too, so who knows?

I won't be surprised if they find a way to keep Callahan.

They know how much this team likes it's coaches, how well they all seem to be working together, so I will not be surprised if they find a way to keep it all together.

Maybe with Garrett getting a 5 year deal, they rest of the Coaches would like the stability here

Considering Callahan's career, who could blame him if he decided to choose stability over seeking a more demanding position? If you like your job and who you work with at this point, why go somewhere where it's possible you won't last more than a couple of seasons? It's not like he's a young up-and-comer who needs to prove himself unless ego is an issue.

True, I know my assumption was after how things went down at the start of this year with Callahan that he may not want to come back. Evidently that is not the case.

To me, it all comes down to dollars.

The only reason to accept an O-Coordinator position at this point in his life is to make more money. Unless he's completely delusional, he's not going to be a HC again and he knows that.

The only thing an O-Coordinator position can offer is more $$$. But, if Jerry pays him like an O-Coordinator then I don't see him going to another team. All in all, I can't imagine anybody that is not vying for a HC position that would take the coordinator position over the O-Line coach position if they are getting paid the same $$$$. Less stress and accountability comes with being an O-Line coach.

I guess if we want to know for sure, just ask Broddus and whatever he says....it's the opposite.

Yeah Broaddus definitely has to eat some crow regarding the Maranelli re-signing. He was saying all season and even yesterday morning he thought Maranelli was leaving.

If this entire staff ends up staying together, I'm going to have to write something nice about Jerry.

It'll be weird, but I'll gladly do it.
