If he needed a clean pocket for best results he would have never passed for over 4000 yards last season and had a career high completion percentage and passer rating. Some of his best plays have come outside the pocket. Everyone acts like Brees has all day to throw but there's times he has to move outside the pocket to extend a play. Go review the Saints playoff game vs SF and see how many "clean" pockets Brees had that day. He was sacked 3 times and avoided several more because of his mobility.
In the playoffs where the intensity level is up several notches QB's aren't going to see many clean pockets. Eli certainly didn't see many clean pockets in the NFC title game. Like I've said many times if everything around Romo has to be perfect for him to lead the Cowboys to a championship they'll never win one under him. If you complied a top 10 list of Romo's greatest plays most of them were when he was under duress and was able to use his athletic ability to make something out of nothing. It's the incredible plays he's made when his protection has broken down that has some fans here putting him ahead of QB's who've won multiple SB's.
Hogwash,,, you'll never get any kind of consistent positive results with a collapsed pocket and your QB running around like Fran Tarkenton. This is magnified when your QB is only 6'0-6'2 and has a harder time seeing the secondary with the entire line in his lap.
Now step back and wait for the rest of the mutual admiration society to show up and tell you how right you are...
