For the last three years, the Cowboys first round pick has been the guy I absolutely hated and did not want them to draft.

2022: I hated Tyler Smith. The guys I wanted were Tyler Linderbaum or Jermaine Johnson

2023: I absolutely hated Mazi. I really wanted the Cowboys to take Nolan Smith, and would've been happy with LaPorta.

2024: Two of the only guys I disliked, in a completely loaded class, were Tyler Guyton and Darius Alexander. If I were GM, I would have turned down the Lions' trade offer and taken Terrion Arnold.

So clearly, the Jones family reads my forum posts and picks players just to piss me off. If they choose to spite me again this year, our 2025 first round pick will be:

Matthew Golden

For the Joneses reading this thread, I also really don't like Malaki Starks, and think Omarion Hampton would be a big reach in the top 15.

Are you being sarcastic or do you really not like Golden at 12?

I like him but also think he’s one of the most overrated players in the class. We hear the term one year wonder for some players but he’s more like a half season wonder.

44? Sure. 12 seems waaaaaaay too rich for the production profile.

I don't like Golden for the same reason you do.

I don't think you need to worry. I have a hard time believing this team will take a 5'11 receiver with the 12th pick.
Not even if he runs a 4.2?

I wouldn't be mad. I just try to accept scouts may know more than I and see how it goes. He's got some moves to him.

Golden would be a decent pick but what we need to happen is a generational type player to fall to us. That really would move the needle and mask multiple holes.

Id grit my teeth and hope his speed shows up more in the NFL playing opposite Lamb than in college.

One of those picks for that you dont like but you have hope for

Probably a bigger qualm would be I dont think he can be a volume player. For a top 15 pick, I want a guy that can get 90+ receptions. I dont see Golden being that guy

Someone who falls unexpectedly. Ask me in a couple weeks.
These are my favorite draft picks every year!

They usually happen in the 2nd and 3rd for me though.

Graham might my guy this year at 12 that has a slim chance of falling who would be fun.

IMO he plays nowhere near that speed.

His teammate Bond plays faster and quicker IMO…just have to go back to the Bama tape when he was healthy.

Hope Tmac is there and they take him.

However I think they really do like Golden and see him as that "explosive" WR due to his speed.

He is my third WR, not counting Hunter. I have Tmac, Egbuka, Golden and Burden.

With that said...if it came down to Golden, Mykel or Johnson from Michigan....Give me Golden.

I would turn his name in without a trade down.

Golden, Lamb, Tolbert, and Turpin with a strong tight end can turn any defense to being on their heels.
