Calling our CZ cap experts

Right now 10.6m under
I would June 1st cut Carr for 9.1m
Restructure Dez for 6.1m
Cut Wilcox for 1.6m
Cut Heath for 1.6m

Total under cap = 29m

Sign Hardy- 6m
Sign a CB- 3m, even re-sign Carr
Sign Reggie Bush type RB- 1m
Sign Rookies- 4.5m, Goff, Dodd, Collins
Sign RGIII/QB2- 3m

Leaves roughly 12m for injuries, contingencies, trades and rollover to 2017

Sounds good, but need to add Zeke Elliot in there somehow....:D....remove Collins, if you mean Collins the RB being drafted. But adding Elliot, we do not get Goff. But can get a QB in the 3rd, if Dodd is the 2nd round pick.

So with rookies, we are really playing with around 4.5m right now, correct?

Exactly. That won't last either

We will need 900k to expand to the 53 man roster
We will need 1m to pay for Practice Squad
Injuries will eat up big chunks when guys on the IR, the replacements cost 500k each minimum
And then you still need a 5m reserve for trades, bonuses and contingencies during the year

Cutting Carr as a June 1st would cover all of that but they probably have to restructure Dez if they want to add a QB2 and DE

if Goff and Wentz are gone at 4 I would love to trade back a couple spots and go EE-RB, Lynch-QB, Ogbah-DE, Jospeh-SS

We definitely have to stay away from Romo's deal....it has two years that we are stuck with and then we have all kinds of options for him in 2018 if he is still a viable player.

The Carr deal just needs to get done, but guessing it doesn't until after June 1st. If we cut him now and make him a June 1st designee, the cap adjustment still doesn't come till after June 1st, correct?

As far as Dez, the longer we can go without redoing his deal for cap purposes the better. I kind of like adjusting Witten's to be honest....maybe moving salary this year and reworking his salary for 2017.....it's time to start weaning him off the cap.

Could easily make 3m by converting Scandrick's salary....and he likely finishes his deal out.

Can still play with Free's deal, Church's, etc.

You are right about Romo, he still has 31m in dead money. But after this year it will be a net gain on the cap if he retires even with the dead money. His contract only called for a 8.5m base this year so he already helped the cap.

Dez' salary is guaranteed this year and next, so he is an easy target for space. He will play out his deal and they may even add "option" years or fake years to extend the restructures the full 5 years.

Carr can be cut anytime and designated a post June 1st cut. But his 9.1m in freed up cap space can't be used until then. But that is perfect for the draft class and all the other minor hits that add up as the season starts.

I wonder how we're so low on cap when weve been so cheap in free agency lately. I feel like Romo and Dez are the only plauers with huge contacts. Even Tyron's is set up beautifully

All I know is this.

The cap is a myth. Sure, there's a number you have to stay under, but if you really want a guy, you can make it work with the endless tools they have to restructure contracts.

Not really anyone left to go get though of significant cost.

so they could have signed Murray if they wanted to !

It is all how you look at the contracts. DAL likes to look broke.

If DAL maxed out all their deals and cut Carr and Church they would be 43m under the cap.
That is with the 17m we have already spent this March.

Don't believe the hype.

Somebody Photo-Chop a Bat signal fail sign.. The board CPA ain't got time fo dat....

Dunbar's cap number is only $987,500, so he reduced our cap space by only $462,500. We should be $10.727 million under the cap right now.

Is the offer sheet signed by Mayowa affecting our cap at this moment or only when the Raiders don't match? If so, with signing bonus of 3.3m and first year salary of 725k, should be 1.825 - 525k (current lowest salary in top 51) so 1.3m net on the cap. Would leave us with 9.427m...plenty of room to fit a cheap deal with Morris and Robinson should we go that way. I would think with Morris we really can't pay him any more than what they paid McFadden as year ago....2 yrs at $3m total so cap hit should be very reasonable there. Robinson likely gets 1-3 year deal with average of about 3-3.5m yr on average, wouldn't be surprised if he only wants to sign a one year deal....if he can put two back to back decent seasons together should put him in a position to get a healthy bump.
