With a bunch of teams wanting receivers towards the end of the 1st round it's very likely Minnesota trades up using the first of their two 1st round picks + a 4th for our 18.

Dallas takes RT D.J. Fluker and Doug Free cries.

I'd rather have Cincinnati's two 2nds (an early and a late) than Minnesota's 1st and 4th. A 4th is a crapshoot.

This team at least 1 1st round talent. Having 3 2nds would be nice if we didn't have 4 black holes at the offensive line.

The way the math works out it might be a 1st and a 3rd from them. Don't know if teams demand you receive exact value according to the chart or not.

Well they don't demand exact value. I just thought it was interesting that Cincy has two 2nds equal exactly to our 1st. Anyway, I think outside of the two guards, there isn't a player we could get in the first who's head and shoulders better than someone we could get in the 2nd. We could get a starting guard, safety and DT if we had three 2nds.

That would be horrible. Trade back. Or go DT.

It's either him or Jerry flashes back to 2009 and just starts trading back because he has no clue what to do because he spent his time @ the X-games when he should have been scouting players @ the Sr. bowl.:bang2:

With the 23rd pick, I'd rather take DL Datone Jones, then take OL Terron Armstead with the 2nd.

Even if we got 102 in return, we'd still be getting screwed from a value perspective.

We are going to slide from 18 to 23 for a low 4th?

No thanks, I tell Minny that I want a 3rd or I hang up the phone.

I'd rather take Richardson or Sylvester Williams in that scenario. (Although if we pick Williams i'd prefer to do so in a trade back if at all possible.)

Yeah, I'd definitely need the Vikings' 3rd if they want us to swap #18 for #23. They can have our 6th to make the value a little more even.

With regard to the OP, I'd rather slide to 25 for a third (nearly perfect trade value) than to 23 for a fourth. A lot of value to be had in the third this year.

I'd rather just trade with Cincy for both of their 2nds then to have to take Fluker, he doesn't impress me in the first to say the least. I'd rather take my chances on Watson or Armstead early in round 2 then bust on Fluker in the first.

Please say no to Fluker.

He is not going to be able to play RT with us - he can't pass block well enough due to heavy feet.

I don't know if he can play OG for us because he apparently is pretty slow mentally and it is far from given he is going to pick up the intricacies of the position on the inside. He has the power and anchor and it isn't even so much the lack of footspeed but I worry if he is going to able to do it mentally based on what the scouts have said. In general, OL, QBs and Safeties are the smartest guys on the field. The closer you are to the Center, the smarter you need to be.

I like the 3rd round prospects like Bailey, Winters, Holmes and Schwenke better than I do most of the guys talked about in the late first and second (Menelik, Armstead, Fluker, Frederick, Warford). It seems like you have athletes that aren't good football players yet or football players who are woefully unathletic.

I'd almost argue that if we want OL we should start accumulating thirds and fourths since that's where most of the value seems to be. I know there will be a huge chorus of it being 2009 all over again. I have a bit more faith with Garrett in there and the new emphasis on physicality and tenacity (i.e. RKG) that we'll do a better job of finding players to develop. I know some are going to harp on Arkin but you win some and lose some. Not many fourth rounders ever amount to quality starters, maybe 20-25% of them.

I'd love for us to trade back in the first and net us a second third. I wouldn't even mind trading back further and get 2 seconds and 3 thirds or 2 seconds, 2 thirds and 2 fourths. This would give us enough picks to get some guys in to develop for the trenches to get ready for the 2014 season. For the 2013 season the best bet is just to sign Brandon Moore and hand RT to Parnell and draft a swing Tackle. I see this as a deep draft where we can rebuild the core of this team and shed some bloated salaries in the next year so we can compete without all the dead weight (Free, Rat, Spencer at $10M, Miles).

I take it all back if Cooper, Star, Richardson or Austin are still available but I don't expect that to be the case.

He was able to be an anchor for Nick Saban. That's an impressive resume credential to me. As a pure RT he's considered maybe the best in the draft.

I disagree with everyone calling DJ a bad pick or a bust. Everyone has seen the comparison to Flozell in speed wise, its comparable. Maybe DJ is not as quick as some will like but he has all the tangibles to be a great pro in this league.

He is the one that took the leadership role on Alabama's late drives, he would get the offensive line on track and focused on getting the late scores. Nastiness, he has an Eric Williams, Marc Columbo type attitude. Do not hit my QB or I will kick you butt! He takes pride in himself and that nastiness makes it ever scarier. Lastly, once he gets his hands on you he will win the battle, he will improve our run game and be worlds better then Free.

No one wants to go another year with Free, Parnell has the intangibles but hey he is going into his 4th year and Free played horrible not only last year but the year before as well. What does that say about Parnell? He didn't win the job out right and when he did get a chance it was on a rotational basis. When your tackle plays as bad as ours the backup should have been able to seize the opportunity and take that job. Now we are also sniffing at RT on the market, Winston and Clabo. Does that seem like ringing endorsements for Parnell? I like Parnell, I too think he had the makeup but someone obviously doesn't trust him to just give him the job after 3 years. Something just doesn't add up with that math.

I am not saying Fluker is my favorite choice but I do not buy he is weaker then Free and could not succeed in our offense. If you can hit someone in the mouth and win the battle the majority of the time, come play on my team anytime.

With that said, he has a 60% chance that he will be gone before our pick, several teams like him earlier than our pick.

This year is nothing like 2009. Rounds 2-4 are stock full of value this year and very deep in the areas that Dallas has needs.

Plus, in their crazy trade backs in 2009, Dallas ended having our 1st pick in the 3rd round. Thats very differnt than having 3 2nd rounders in a draft loaded in the 2nd round. Totally different.

Furthmore, Menelick Watson with the 18th pick would be a real reach. If you want to stay in the 1st, at least take in later in that round or go DT or DE and get one of the FA OTs if necessary.
