Because you know how NFL contracts work but don't ever want to admit you might be wrong

Why would anyone assume that 1 player would not make it to the end of the contract while all others will?

Not like it even matters because it doesn't change the average enough to make a difference.

I ask again, what QB is being paid what he is worth?

Furthermore, what should Romo be getting paid?

Romo is clearly worth more than 20m a year.

He could have signed a 'real' 5/100 deal instead of a 'real' 4/68m deal or 'fake' 6/108m deal.

And no one assumes most players will make it to the end of their deals. It is the exact opposite of that. There is no way you can deny that contracts aren't set up that way. It allows agents to pound their chests and say that they got the "top" deal for their clients. Everyone know that guaranteed money is what makes a deal.

So back to my original question...all QBs are underpaid?

If Romo is easily worth more than $20M, then perhaps maybe only Rodgers is paid what he is worth?

Honestly, they should have let him go.

Get another qb in the draft.

yeah , I dont think he rates that type of contract, way too much $. They better hope he can earn it, they are stuck now for 5 years.
He just has flashes, never consistently good.
now other qb's will be wanting more than him! because many are better than him.

If a QB deserved to be paid 100 million, with 60 of it guaranteed, than it easily has to be Cam Newton. Since joining the league he has been an unstoppable force, he has Aaron Rodgers arm combined with Adrian Peterson's running ability, he's simply amazing.

Said no one ever. Panthers just paid premium for an average QB.

And who should they start at QB????

Cap space is worthless is you don't have anyone to spend it on.

Just because you don't have another starting quality QB on the roster doesn't mean you give a slightly above average QB a 100 million dollar deal. I think they should've handled the situation just like we handled Demarco Murray. Offer him a fair deal, and if he decides to leave for more money then so be it. If your goal is to win a championship, you darn sure don't give a QB like Newton that deal. If they haven't been able to win with him on his rookie contract, boy are they going to be in hell when they can't sign the pieces they need and he has to carry more slack.

QBs are the most important players in the NFL. They are still 10m under the cap this year and 30m next.

Newton has led them to the playoffs 2 straight years after only going 4 times in the franchise history.

He also has 33 rushing TDs in 4 years. Only 3 RBs have more.

If he is easily replaceable please give some names.

Wonder how Donovan McNabb feels about this. You know, since he only has one playoff win.

I haven't said he's "easily replaceable", I just said I wouldn't of paid him that ludicrous contract. I don't think Demarco Murray is "easily replaceable", and yet I still would've let him walk, especially for 8 million/year. We'll see if the deal comes back to bite them, but for it to work out Newton will have to drastically improve as a passer in the NFL.

If you are willing to let him walk over money then you don't value him too much.

They could trade him in two for 2 #1s.

Is Cam > Wilson? Can't wait to see how much Wilson makes, it will be more and that will be a bigger heist IMO.

You make a lot of good points but some look at his losing record as a starter and can't get past that.
